Texas A&M men's basketball looks to outperform preseason expectations

The Aggies are ranked 12th in the SEC in the latest preseason poll. Guards Admon Gilder and T.J. Starks think the team belongs much higher, and they will look to come out of the gates ready to play to prove it.

Twelve is a beloved number at Texas A&M.

Unless it’s attached to Southeastern Conference basketball rankings. Then it’s bemoaned.

The Aggies, who last season were 22-13 and reached the Sweet Sixteen the NCAA Tournament, are ranked 12th in the SEC preseason media poll.

That doesn’t sit well with senior guard Admon Gilder, who thinks he and sophomore T.J. Starks will form one of the conference’s best backcourt tandems.

Gilder averaged 12.3 points last season.
