The Aggies have landed a long time, top of the board target today as Dickinson TE Jalen Wydermyer‍ made his verbal commitment to Jimbo Fisher and company on the heels of his official visit weekend in College Station. Wydermyer is the 24th commitment in the 2019 class, and he joins Brock’s Baylor Cupp‍ as one of the groups’ two tight ends.

This is pretty big news considering that Wydermyer’s lead recruiter Tim Brewster just left Texas A&M to accept a job with lifelong friend Mack Brown at North Carolina. Essentially, Texas A&M landed one of the state’s premier pass catchers without a hired position coach on campus yet. That speaks volumes to the recruiting prowess and depth of this staff.

Over the course of his high school career, Wydermyer has amassed over 1,200 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. He’s a fluid route runner and natural catcher of the football. He’s an elite athlete that has a chance to be a nightmare matchup down the middle of the field. At 6-5, 240 pounds, Wydermyer also possesses the physical strength to play in the trenches in the SEC.

Ultimately, Wydermyer chooses the Aggies over Miami (FL), Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn, Missouri, and Georgia.

Love the fact the both he & Cupp, on top of being athletic receiving threats, appear to really enjoy mangling defenders in the blocking game!

That looks like a Jimbo Fisher TE. He will do well in this system. Gig'em Jalen.

I saw a lot of "blocking his man out-of-bounds" penalties in that highlight video!

This commitment needs more attention. Rated as a 3* but take a look at the offer list-- it's pretty much everyone that matters in college football.

Big time get for the Ags.
