One of the most entrenched traditions of football and rivalry in Texas is the age-old sport of battling big cigars — that is, Longhorns and Aggies consistently trying to one-up each other.

For decades, whenever the Longhorns decided to add on to DKR-and-sometimes-Y Stadium, the Aggies answered in kind. And always, the second puff of smoke across the state’s sporting landscape had to be louder, bigger, bolder.

One program went turf, the other went turf. One practice bubble led to another.
