Buzz Williams has Texas A&M ahead of schedule and headed in the right direction

Texas A&M was an underdog in every single Southeastern Conference game in 2019-20. However, the Aggies - led by first-year head coach Buzz Williams - won 10 conference games, a sure sign that Williams has the program headed towards even better days.

After spending three days with Buzz Williams last May, I kept close tabs on Texas A&M this season. In early December, the Aggies had lost four straight games. They had three wins — all buy games — and I kept thinking back to a conversation Williams had with his father-in-law during my visit.

“Everyone keeps saying, ‘Glad you’re home, Buzz,’ ” he said. “They’re not gonna be saying that when we start getting our ass kicked.
