The SEC: It had reasons for starting late, and those reasons haven’t changed

While the Big Ten and Pac-12 have already made the move to cancel completely, the SEC is holding firm and sticking by their protocols in an attempt to play in the fall. For the SEC, nothing has changed since two fellow Power 5 conferences bowed out of the 2020 season.

SEC commissioner Greg Sankey suggested Tuesday morning that the SEC would not likely stand alone if the other Power 5 leagues decided to punt on football in the fall because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As of Tuesday evening, the Big Ten and Pac-12 had announced decisions to postpone football until at least January.
