Follow this stuff long enough and you realize that trying to project a season — for your team or anyone else around college football — based off the season-opener is a dangerous game. Good or bad, regardless of the caliber of opponent, it's one game and it's the first truly competitive action for that specific team. All coming after a seven-month layoff. There are no preseason games, no training camps in Florida or Arizona.
