Life after the quarterback competition

There wasn’t 82,000 looking at him, but Johnny Manziel got a small taste of what’s to come as a horde of reporters gathered around to watch his every move at Texas A&M’s Thursday night football practice.

Such is life for the Aggies’ starting quarterback.

A&M coach Kevin Sumlin announced on Wednesday that Manziel, a redshirt freshman, had won a competition for the starting job over redshirt sophomores Jameill Showers and Matt Joeckel.
