Texas A&M adds former Houston WR Jonah Wilson via transfer portal

Former Houston wide receiver Jonah Wilson has announced his intentions to transfer to Texas A&M. A 2023 product of Spring Dekaney, the 6-foot-3 wideout hauled in 11 passes for 118 yards and one touchdown over the last two seasons for the Cougars.

The Aggies have now brought in another pass catcher from the portal with the addition of former Houston wide receiver Jonah Wilson.

Standing at 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, Wilson is originally from Houston, where he attended Spring Dekaney High School. As a four-star, he accumulated 77 catches for 1,341 yards and 13 touchdowns during his senior campaign. He originally chose the Cougars over Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Missouri, LSU, Colorado and many others.

As a freshman in 2023, he appeared in three games, splitting time on special teams and getting reps at receiver. He recorded two catches and a 60-yard touchdown against Oklahoma State. After taking a redshirt year, he recorded nine catches and 58 yards in the 2024 season.

Wilson will have three years of eligibility left and adds another piece to a transfer portal haul of pass catchers for Mike Elko, Holmon Wiggins and the Maroon & White.

i think the overall talent at the wide receiver position has been upgraded. i also like that to my knowledge all of them have the ability to play multiple seasons for the ags. we are still short on experience but if two of these guys can work out we should be in pretty good shape.

Yeah right...just like all the other transfers that didn't pan out at their original school and then led their new teams to titles, Hiesmans, and/or became first round picks.

Yeah, him being 6'3" and a former 4 star is about all we have to go on. Not much to get excited about until proven otherwise.

A team needs prospects and a coaching staff that can develop those prospects. This kid has great measurables. It's up to him to work and the staff to develop.
