Mike Elko and Texas A&M continue to build momentum on the recruiting front, and on the day of the Maroon & White Game, they kick off the 2027 recruiting class with a big get from the Peach state as Quitman (GA) standout George Lamons Jr‍ announced his Texas A&M commitment.

Lamons checks in at 6-foot-4 and 215 pounds, and he has been a versatile standout at Brooks County High School. A big physical receiver, he caught 62 passes for 1,340 yards and 20 touchdowns as a sophomore in 2024.

He chose the Aggies over the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia, Miami and Tennessee, and he is regarded as one of the top up-and-coming prospects in the 2027 class.

In addition to attending A&M's spring game, Lamons also visited in March, and he was offered following an early February visit.

All it takes is money, which unfortunately we are lacking these days compared to the elite teams.

Top 30 player in the country for 2027 -- this is a big time get. The tough part will be holding onto him for nearly two years before signing day, but then again, the same can be said for current players now as well because of the transfer portal. Ultimately though, I have trust in our staff (and nil) to get this one done!
