Texas A&M infielder Koko Wooley named SEC Co-Player of the Week
Koko went loko.
On Tuesday, Texas A&M shortstop Koko Wooley was named the Southeastern Conference’s co-Player of the Week after another successful weekend at the dish.
The Aggie shares the accolade with Arkansas’ Kailey Wyckoff.
Wooley hit an astonishing .700 (7-for-10) with three RBIs and three stolen bases in a three-game set at Missouri.
This weekend, the Maroon & White took two of three from Missouri, sweeping Thursday’s doubleheader. In A&M’s first wins in Columbia since 2013, Wooley’s consistency helped the Aggies claim the series in come-from-behind fashion.
In the first game, A&M was down 5-4 heading into the seventh inning. Wooley’s RBI double scored the game’s tying run, and the Aggies plated two more soon after.
The twinbill continued with another close-call win for Ford’s squad. Wooley recorded a pair of hits in the nine-inning affair as the Aggies clinched the series.
During A&M’s 14-game heater, Wooley slashed .426/.511/.568.
A reliable piece of Trisha Ford’s offense, Wooley continues to shine in her fourth year in Aggieland.
The weekly honor for Wooley marks the sixth for the Aggies this season, a program record in a season since joining the SEC.
Additionally, it is the first weekly accolade of Wooley’s career.
