TexAgs Live is emanating live from the Aggieland FCA Golf Classic at Traditions Club on Monday, and former Texas A&M basketball coach Billy Kennedy stopped by to talk some hoops as Bucky McMillan takes the reins in College Station.
Key notes from Billy Kennedy interview
- Bill Johnston has done a tremendous job with Brazos Valley FCA. Not only with my program, but in the community as a whole. He has been a big help to me and a lot of people in FCA.
- I am excited for Bucky McMillan and the new staff. I know what some of those guys did for me and what kind of people they are. I think they will impact Texas A&M basketball and keep it going at a high level.
- It’s totally different today than when I was there with the transfer portal and the transactional behavior, instead of transformational, with guys making decisions. Buzz Williams did a great job of getting guys back. This new staff has their work cut out for them because they didn't have a base.
- I am looking forward to “Bucky Ball” too. There aren't many teams that play that way. It will be unique and high tempo. It's a different style than I played or the coaches before me played. It will be a lot of newness, but I am excited to see what it looks like at this level.
