In an age of advanced analytics across college baseball, Texas A&M's tough-to-stomach sweep in Austin can be explained by the old adage of "pitching, defense and timely hitting." Simply put, the Aggies didn't execute enough to leave UFCU Disch-Falk Field with a single victory.

The old adage still holds a lot of weight, even in the face of all the upgrades in analytics and their correlation with what constitutes winning baseball.

This past weekend in Austin, it was on full display.

In a series decided by the narrowest of margins in each contest, it was the Burnt Orange side that out-executed Texas A&M by one play/pitch/swing that was the difference.
