A&M left-hander Kaiden Wilson selected in ninth round by Miami
On Monday, Texas A&M left-handed pitcher Kaiden Wilson was selected by the Miami Marlins in the ninth round and 258th overall.
Wilson becomes the fifth Aggie off the board in the 2025 MLB Draft.
As a sophomore in 2025, Wilson made 22 relief appearances for Michael Earley and the Aggies. One of A&M’s oft-used bullpen arms, he tossed 22.1 innings and struck out 28 batters against 10 walks while owning a 4.43 ERA and 1.25 WHIP.
On May 3, Wilson earned the only save of his career, recording the final four outs of A&M’s series-opening 3-1 victory against eventual national champion LSU at Blue Bell Park.
Throughout his two years in Aggieland, the Raymore, Mo., native was 0-4 with one save in 32 appearances, all out of the bullpen. Wilson struck out 43 batters and walked 17 in 33.1 career innings.
Born on June 15, 2004, and already 21 years of age, he is a somewhat rare draft-eligible sophomore and could return to school with an additional year of leverage should he elect not to sign.
Ryan Brauninger’s scout of Kaiden Wilson
“Left-hander that could profile as a starter, but build and stuff likely means he'll start his pro career in the bullpen. Arm talent is not a question. Fastball has crept up to 97 mph a few times. Mechanics come and go, which has an effect on pitch shape and ability to consistently be in the strike zone. Slider has a tendency to get stuck behind him and flatten out, but does show good direction and late life when it's right.”
