ATLANTA — The general rule of thought is that junior Ty Simpson will be Alabama’s starting quarterback.

Coach Kalen DeBoer acknowledged that if the season started today, Simpson would be directing the Crimson Tide offense.

However, DeBoer also said sophomore Austin Mack and freshman Keelon Russell have a chance to steal the job.

Maybe, but the more DeBoer says, the less realistic it seems that anybody other than Simpson will start.
