On Friday, Callie Garner took us Around Aggieland as the Aggies wrap SEC Media Days, eight Aggies were drafted in MLB to extend the nation’s longest streak, and preseason SEC Football honors drop today. Also, Texas A&M Men’s golf tees off the 2025-26 season in September.

SEC Media Days wrapped Thursday as Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and several Aggie players previewed the 2025 season, which kicks off Aug. 30 against UTSA at Kyle Field. Preseason All-SEC honors and the projected order of finish, as voted on by the media, will be announced Friday.

On the diamond, eight Aggies were selected in the 2025 MLB Draft, including Jace LaViolette in the first round (27th overall to Cleveland) and Justin Lamkin in the second (71st to Kansas City). Texas A&M extended the nation’s longest streaks of having at least three players selected in every draft since 2001 and multiple selections every year since 1984.

The Aggies also added outfielder Wesley Jordan, a transfer from Baylor who hit .306 with 10 home runs in 2025, and welcomed back Travis Chestnut, who returns after a year at St. Edward’s, where he hit .308 with 54 RBIs and 40 stolen bases.

In men’s golf, Texas A&M will open its 2025-26 season at the Gopher Invitational on Sept. 7-8 in Maple Plain, Minnesota. The Aggies finished 11th at the NCAA Championship last season and claimed runner-up finishes at the SEC Championship and NCAA Auburn Regional.
