2027 Valdosta (GA) Lowndes QB Jayce Johnson commits to Texas A&M
The Aggies have landed a commitment from one of the most talented quarterbacks in the country as 2027 Valdosta (GA) Lowndes signal-caller Jayce Johnson has given his verbal pledge to Mike Elko and Texas A&M.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder is the first member of the 2027 class for the Maroon & White, and it’s quite a way to kick off proceedings as he has already racked up over 20 offers prior to the start of his junior season. In the end, the main competitors were Florida State, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Johnson already jumps off the page physically. He has an impressive frame with broad shoulders and massive hands. There’s also next-level arm strength already present that should only improve with increased mechanical efficiency and natural maturity. Additionally, he gets it done with legs, evading defenders both in the pocket and down the field while also showing some burst when getting to top speed.
As a sophomore in 2024, he helped guide Lowndes to a 10-2 overall record, completing 67 percent of his passes for 1,799 yards, 16 touchdowns and only three interceptions. He also recorded 318 yards and three scores on 79 carries.
