Thanks for the assessment. Sounds like another average 8-4 team. In the big picture, that's okay for year 2 of a new coaching staff. We can hope & yell for better, and pray that's it's not worse.

8-4 is not good enough with an extremely easy SEC schedule like last year and this year. He should get fired after next year when the schedule will be MUCH tougher

8-4 is really just 5-4 when you take away the 3 money games with lesser opponents
When you win those 3 games, most say no big deal. If you lose one, everyone wants to slit their wrist
and declare the season a disaster.

Absolutely correct. Average SEC performance over the years is 4-4. So win the three money games each year and averages out to 7-4. One tough OOC opponent is a tossup for either 8-4 or 7-5. Kind of who we are. But you'd hope for at least one year every now and then where we are 8-0 in conference play, or at least 7-1. It's what keeps us coming back, although many of us are realistic enough to expect 8-4 as the norm.

Love it how Looch talks up how talented the individual secondary members making it sound like we have a bunch of high round draft picks and then can't say with any confidence that they'll be in the top half of the SEC.

Thank you, Billy Liucci for providing your assessment of this team! I agree with him that Missouri will be a wildcard, and I think that road game will be tricky. I am predicting 9-3 with losses to Notre Dame, LSU, and Texas, but I am more worried about a road game at Missouri than home games against Florida and South Carolina for several reasons.

1. Both teams will be coming off a bye week, but we will be playing our 3rd road game in 4 weeks.

2. Missouri has won 10 consecutive home games, including 8 against Power 4 opponents and 7 against SEC opponents, since a 49-39 home loss to LSU on 10/7/2023.

3. We have lost 12 of our last 14 true road games, including 7 consecutive November road games since a 34-13 win at Tennessee on 12/19/2020. If we have another inexplicable late season loss as a favorite, Missouri is where it happens.

11/13/2021: 29-19 loss at Ole Miss
11/27/2021: 27-24 loss at LSU
11/12/2022: 13-10 loss at Auburn
11/4/2023: 38-35 loss at Ole Miss
11/25/2023: 42-30 loss at LSU
11/2/2024: 44-20 loss at South Carolina
11/23/2024: 43-41 4-OT loss at Auburn

A win over MIssouri would be our first November/ December road win in 5 years, but losses to both Missouri and Texas would extend our November road losing streak to 9 games and 2026.

I thought he sounded very confident they'll be top half of the sec. It was top 3rd he was less confident in.

Not the takeaway I had on it nor anywhere near my point. Always cracks me up when the narrative is that TexAgs only talks positives. Looch mentioned plenty of concerns last fall and has again this fall, too. I think he predicted 8-4 last year and 9-3 this year. Not like he's predicting we are legit title contenders. Mostly just that he believes we are an improved team overall from last year, but to what extent that is, still remains to be seen. Dl the only position we are likely not better at than last year.

I'd agree with that assessment and even the other sites seem to say the exact same thing.
