Football
Former Texas A&M wide receiver Ainias Smith scored his second touchdown in as many games for the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday.
Baseball
Former Texas A&M baseball players Kaeden Kent and Wyatt Henseler each hit their first professional home runs over the weekend. Kent is with the Hudson Valley Renegades, the High-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, and Henseler plays for the Fredericksburg Nationals, the Single-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals.
Soccer
A late goal from Trinity Buchanan lifted Texas A&M soccer to a 1-0 win over Lamar on Sunday at Ellis Field.
Buchanan scored her first Aggie goal in the 87th minute off a ball from Hattie Patterson. Each team saw a red card, but A&M’s defense held Lamar to just one shot on goal. Goalkeeper Erica Defferding recorded a shutout in her first start, while the Aggies outshot Lamar 22-9. Texas A&M improved to 1-0-1 on the season and will host Texas State on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Volleyball
No. 9 Texas A&M held its Maroon & White Scrimmage on Saturday at Reed Arena with Team White sweeping all four sets as head coach Jamie Morrison rotated rosters. Senior Taylor Humphrey led the way with 13 kills, Ifenna Cos-Okpalla added 11 blocks, and freshman Megan Fitch tallied nine kills.
Coming off a Sweet 16 run and a victory over rival Texas last year, the Aggies face No. 20 Baylor in an exhibition on Aug. 20 before opening the season against No. 11 Minnesota on Aug. 25.
