Week 9's Overnight Sensation: Jamarion Morrow, Running Back

This week's Overnight Sensation is running back Jamarion Morrow, who might be the next in a long line of electric ball carriers as the ever-efficient true freshman turned four total touches into two second-half touchdowns vs. LSU in Week 9.

Each Monday during the 2025 Texas A&M football season, we’ll identify a first or second-year Aggie player who delivered an exceptional performance over the weekend and earned the distinction of being the week’s “Overnight Sensation.”

Texas A&M has had plenty of great ball carriers in the last decade.

For the past 10 years, the 12th Man has seen the likes of Trayveon Williams, Isaiah Spiller, De'Von Achane and Le'Veon Moss own the backfield, each surpassing 1,900-plus career yards.

Jamarion Morrow just might be the next man up.

In Saturday night's splattering in Baton Rouge, Morrow caught a touchdown pass and ran in another to help the Aggies dismantle LSU, 49-25.

Totaling 50 total yards on the night, the freshman's stats may not be eye-popping, but his efficiency stands out. Morrow received just 13 snaps, three carries and one catch on Saturday night.

With Moss sidelined for the foreseeable future, the Memphis native is pushing for RB2 reps.

After an unpleasant second quarter, A&M headed into halftime down 18-14.

"I just told them, 'You're the better team, but you have to play better football. And if you don't play better football, you're going to let one slip away tonight,' head coach Mike Elko said. "That's honestly what I told them at halftime."

The Aggies needed a spark, and as they have done most of the season, they came out roaring.

The Maroon & White rattled off back-to-back touchdowns, and with the ball at midfield, the visitors had a chance to seal this one in the third.

Morrow's first score of the night put the game out of LSU’s reach.

On first down, Marcel Reed checked it out to Morrow, who ran for 24 yards and right into the end zone. The speedy 5-foot-9 tailback went untouched before crossing the goal line.

As seen in weeks past, his pass-catching ability adds another wrinkle to his game. Reed's electric wideout room only gets deeper with Morrow as an option.

Yet, Morrow's night was not done there. The rookie continued to see action as the night went on, but he only received one carry in the second half. That lone carry was an 11-yard touchdown run to put the nail in the coffin and empty the stands of Tiger Stadium.

Morrow became the first Aggie freshman to log a receiving and rushing score in the same game since Achane at South Carolina on Nov. 7, 2020.

His role in A&M's crowded offense speaks volumes about the trust he has already earned from the Aggie coaching staff.

Playing in all eight games to begin his college career, Morrow's early production suggests his best football is ahead.

The way Klein utilizes various RB's, I would say that he's one of the potential future stars. It is certainly good for recruiting to see how many RB's get playing time in our offense.
