Each Monday during the 2025 Texas A&M football season, we’ll identify a first or second-year Aggie player who delivered an exceptional performance over the weekend and earned the distinction of being the week’s “Overnight Sensation.”
Off the field, you might find KC Concepcion in the kitchen, grilling and cooking dishes for his teammates.
On the field, it's Concepcion who is being fed.
The junior wideout hauled in four catches for 84 yards, assisting the Aggies in their 38-17 win over No. 22 Missouri on Saturday afternoon in Columbia.
Any good chef knows it takes various ingredients to perfect a dish, and Concepcion's blend of competitiveness, speed and elusiveness allows Texas A&M’s offense to keep cooking.
Throughout the 2025 season, A&M's playmakers have made it a point to bond over a meal, usually one cooked by Concepcion.
“I started cooking for my teammates whenever I first got down here back in January or February,” Concepcion told SEC Network. “They didn't know what to expect from me. From the reactions that I've got, I exceed those expectations.”
“I am over here just about every night,” quarterback Marcel Reed said. “Every time he cooks, I'm going to come get myself a plate. Being around each other, it's bonding with your brothers, and being in the same room outside of football, it's essentially our family here.”
That family bond has caused A&M's offense to sizzle in 2025, averaging 37.8 points a game.
Concepcion hauled in another touchdown at Missouri, bringing his season total to eight receiving and 10 total.
Up 14-0 and looking to speed away in the third quarter, Concepcion provided the insurance.
Reed called an audible, checked down to his ultra-reliable wideout, and Concepcion did the rest. The sophomore slipped past a few defenders and turned a short pass into a 48-yard house call.
The Aggies' third touchdown was a perfect example of what Concepcion can do with just a little bit of space.
The first-year Aggie was one of many third-year players to create headlines on Saturday night as Concepcion's teammates like Dalton Brooks, Rueben Owens II and Daymion Sanford all majorly contributed in the win.
A&M's formula goes beyond just Collin Klein's play design. It's the chemistry that binds the ingredients together.
“It takes brotherhood, chemistry and just preparation,” Owens said postgame. “Coach (Mike) Elko prepares us really well throughout the week to get ready for these games, and he tells us straight forward. He says it's going to be a hard game. They're going to fight, but we're going to fight harder. And that's just what we've been doing."
Averaging 70 yards a game, Concepcion is on pace to hit 800-plus receiving yards in A&M's last regular-season game at Texas. With a postseason appearance almost guaranteed, Concepcion has a chance to become A&M's first 1,000-yard receiver since Josh Reynolds in 2016.
From grilling in the kitchen to blazing past defenders, Concepcion will continue to serve as A&M pursues perfection.
So as long as Concepcion continues cooking, A&M could savor the taste of victory all year long.
