I lost my father and stepdad three months apart in 2019 and was having a rough go of things for a while. Round about January 2020 I was sitting in my studio doing some writing and one of my dogs was in the hallway by the studio door. I was the only one home, except for the dogs, and there was no TV or radio on anywhere. Out of nowhere I hear distinct whistling coming from the living room. My dog popped her head up and looked that way as it happened. As I was trying to sort out in my mind if I had really heard what I thought I heard, my dog stood up facing toward the living room and her tail started wagging.

I told my mom about it and she nonchalantly said, "Oh, that's your grandfather. He must be checking up on you to make sure you're alright."

A 5th dimension, swirling demon blob thing, apparently. But you'd have to go back a dozen pages or so to find it.

Our current house is 113 years old, and we always joked about ghosts. One afternoon I was home alone folding laundry in the back guestroom. As clear as could be, what sounds like a few inches from my ear I hear a voice say "hello." I stopped what I was doing and stood super still. The acoustics in our house can be weird with the single pane windows and pass through/shotgun style… But I hadn't heard anything like that before.

A few weeks later, I'm working on my printer that hates me and I hear something say "what?" from what seems like a few inches away. Another time, I was setting up a trundle bed, and I heard "hmmm…"

At other times, I would hear footsteps which I attributed to our party wall neighbor being home… except most of the time I'd find out she was at her mountain house.

I went to scripture to convince myself that what I was experiencing wasn't real. Surely, since once you pass you can't return to earth, there are no such thing as ghosts? Unfortunately, what I did find was that there are spirits among us, just not the friendly ones of our friends and family who have passed… at least that's my interpretation of what I read.

I really hope that the voices and footsteps are just street noise bouncing around until it reaches my ear. Not going to lie, though, I've changed my opinion on the paranormal since living here. I am very glad we are moving.
Just curious, what scripture did you go to? Was it the bible? Or was it a text from one of the estimated 10,000 other religions? Also curious what decision process you used to ultimately choose the scripture you chose and not any of the others (if, in fact, you only consulted one holy book)

About 20 years ago we "bought back" a ranch property that my family had owned. My folks had sold it in 1984 when I was a sophomore at A&M. Starting not too long after we moved onto the place, I would "see" something in our bedroom at night. It has pretty consistently happened a couple of times per year for the 20 years we have been back. I attribute to me awakening, when my mind is floating between a dream state and the reality of a pitch dark room.

Most of the time I just see an indistinguishable figure but sometimes I believe it is a woman. I will lash out at the figure if it is within reach. I always get out of bed, warn my wife that something is in the room and turn the light on. At that point I always realize there is nothing there and I could not have seen anything because the room is too dark. I will get another "not again" from my wife.

There has been death nearby. On our place is a pioneer homestead, which we know some of the history. A woman and her infant daughter died in childbirth in the old house in 1872. They were buried on the place, down by the river in a very nice rock grave site. In 1972, their remains were disinterred and moved to a public cemetery, I believe so they would not be lost and forgotten in a pasture. Also, when I was a young kid an elderly neighbor couple died in a house fire. We bought eggs from them and the old lady was always very nice to me. Age once gave me a small panda figure, only about one-inch long but as a five-year old, it was one of my prized possessions.

Our house is almost centered between the two houses where these women died, about 1/4 mile to each, and in the middle of a pretty expansive area with no other homes.

One night, about a year ago, I had another one of my episodes. An old lady appeared to be standing right beside me at the head of the bed. When I saw her I struck at her. Usually that is when the vision disappears but this time the old lady just stood there. She had a kind of half smile on her face an I felt she meant me no harm. I extended my hand as kind of an apology for swinging at her but she did not move. I lay there looking at her for several moments and as I began to stir she faded and I began to realize the room was pitch black and too dark to see anything.

This occasion was different than the others. My delirium hung around longer and I had a definite interaction. Eerily, I felt I knew the person and she knew me. I told my wife the ghost was Mrs. Russell, the woman who had died in the house fire over 40 years ago. The woman who we bought eggs from on a weekly basis. The woman who had given me the little panda over fifty years ago. The little panda that I still have in a box in my closet about 10' from where she stood by my bed.

Likely just dreaming.
You may not be a moron, but some people think you are.

I've been sleeping with my bedroom door locked for the last 4 months ever since I began to hear noises coming from the kitchen and living room. I live alone. Almost every night I hear things sliding around on the floor with the occasional bump or crash! I've turned on the TV and upped the volume hoping the loud sounds of human voices would make whatever is outside my bedroom door go away….but I quit doing that as it only seemed to attract the evil spirit as I would hear bumps and scratches at my door. I just lay there with the covers pulled up to my chin, bug eyed trembling with terror staring at the door. In the morning, when I open my door, I see things all over the living room floor and I'm ecstatically greeted by my two new Jack Russell puppies as they have survived yet another night of witnessing the terror themselves.

I've got a few

I live in my family's 200 year old home. It's been in the same family all this time.

We live in a room that my great grandparents had lived in as well. GreatG " L" used to cook in the fireplace. Every few weeks or months I will be sitting in there reading, watching Tv or laying in bed when I get a very strong whiff of a baked good or some kind of meal that smells out of this world. I bolt out of there thinking I've left a stove on but nothing is cooking in the kitchen. It's unmistakeable. Happened again last night . Crazy but wonderful every time.

I plan on mentioning these experiences to our reverend one day to see what he thinks.

More later.

I have a monster that lives in my sink drain. Does that count?

When I turn the lights on, it growls and makes a lot of racket. I once reached down to see if I could get it out. Bit me so hard I had to get stitches. Once I turn the lights out, it stops growling. I won't put my hand down the drain EVER again.

I realize this is a 2 year old post, but we stayed here one year when I was younger on a vacation to Schlitterbahn and the river. I had no idea it was haunted, my mom claimed to not know but I wonder if she just wanted to have a little fun.

When we found out it was haunted, we decided to go to the floor they said has the most action. We walked around and my buddy started trying to call out the spirits. We were probably 16-17 yr olds with our younger brothers 14-15. We got to the end of a hallway and sat down. They had big cupboard/dressers in the hallway, and as we sat down and my buddy kept trying to talk to them the door to one of these cupboards started opening on its own really slow. Scared the **** out of us so we took off running. Came back and tried to make it open on its own, run fast by it, bump it…anything to make it open and couldn't do it. We ran down to the front desk to ask them question about anything and nobody was there at the desk. All of a sudden a guy asks us if we need help from the corner of the room maybe 5 feet away from us. Had no idea he was there but we were on edge and this dude looked like someone who'd play a ghost in a movie. We told him what happened and he kind of chuckled and said he's heard that before. Told us some other things people experience. Most of it happens in the bathrooms. Sounds of children crying, notes written in the mirror of a steamy shower. The maids claim they're all friendly and they've talked to them before.

Pretty interesting place. I feel like I remember there being some story about a fountain out front and the significance of it running or not running but I can't remember.

Stayed in an apartment overlooking the Granbury town square for an internship 1 summer. Heard multiple times about a little girl who had died in the building and still haunted the place. I never saw her, but she spoke to me several times. I could never understand it, but it was always an unintelligible whispering in my ear.

I was a 20 year old sophomore in Aggieland in 1994 and had gone to Houston to see the Rockets play with my brother.
Drove back same night to College Station in my '67 VW Bug. Coming up Highway 6, and had just gone by that Exxon that's on the west side of 6 about 10-15 miles north of Hempstead.
Driving along, listening to the radio, and all at once - the radio cut off, the headlights turned off, and the car engine turned off. Up ahead, there's a farm house on a hill that's been there forever, and as I'm slowly WTF reacting, its outdoor light went off as well.

Totally bewildered, I pulled the car over to the side and came to a stop, barely able to see anything. I got out of the car and felt something going by overhead. Not right overhead, more like I don't know, maybe 50 or 100 feet in the air. Not a machine. Not a plane or a helicopter or a UFO, something ALIVE. Big and alive. Like the sensation you get when a shadow goes over your head when you're outside and there's a hawk or a buzzard or something up there. But it felt much bigger and really, really weird.

I got back in the car and rolled the window up (67 VWs didn't come with air conditioners). Maybe 90 seconds later that light outside the house came on, and then my headlights came back on. I turned the key and thank God the car started back up. I put the radio on AM to find somebody talking to try to stay calm and drove as fast as that 49 HP engine could get me back to CS. Sat on the couch with the lights on watching TV the rest of the night.

I don't think I've ever made that drive alone and at night ever again.

Stayed at the Roosevelt Hotel in LA last year. The hotel was built in the 20s and is rumored to be haunted. The first night I was there the tv remote fell off a table in the room by itself. Now I could have left it on the edge causing it to fall but I'm not sure, I thought it was odd since that usually never happens. The second and last night there I was feeling creeped out and left the lights and tv on while I tried to sleep. I was not sleeping well and kept waking up and looking around the room. I did doze off at one point and was about half asleep and I started to hear a woman's voice speaking in a foreign language. At first I thought it was coming from the next door room but it started to get louder and louder. Scared me enough to force myself to wake up fully and when I was was wide awake the voice stopped.

A couple of nights ago I had to fend for myself dinner. We have a drawer just below our cook top where we house our knives. I place a saut pan and turned the gas burner on low. Went to the couch to turn the Monday night football game on. As I'm sitting going through the channel list, I hear a thud in the kitchen. My lab stands up and her hackles raise. I think it's the cat that just knocked of my fish filet from the island counter. So, I get up ready to go after the damn cat. Filet still there so I check between the stovetop and the island to find my knife drawer open and 3 knives on the floor. These are larger knives such as butcher and filet. Then I notice the flame is out on the burner. Hairs on my arm raised, put things back up, and started cooking again. Haven't told my wife and daughters yet…

Actual haunting encounter...

In January of 2021, my gf and I took a small weekend trip to New Braunfels for my birthday.

A few blocks from the town square, there is a hotel called The Faust. It's actually currently being renovated. They used to have a brewery on the first floor behind the lobby and front desk. The beer wasn't so great, but I visited a few times.

I had always wanted to stay at The Faust cause I like historic hotels and my great grandparents honeymooned there. We had heard it was haunted but dismissed it and booked a room for the night.

The hotel is old and still handed out skeleton keys for its rooms, which are small rooms. When we checked in we went to our room on the second floor - Room 206. We set our bags down, freshen up a little, and head out to Gruene. I had made a mental note when we checked in that they didn't seem busy. I also noted to myself how eerie the hallways were...very old, and very spooky.

After celebrating we got back to the hotel later that night but not super late. We get into bed at a decent hour with no real issues.

A little before 4am something wakes me up. I'm disoriented at first but once I come to a little I can hear someone trying to get into our room. Like, REALLY trying. I sit straight up which ends up waking my gf who immediately asks me what's going on. I tell her I think someone is trying to get into the room.

The handle/knob is jiggling so it is clear that someone is trying to open the door but is having trouble. It would jiggle for a few seconds, then stop for a second or two, then start again. We didn't really know what to do so we just sat there in bed trying to plan our next move. Then it suddenly stops.

Then we start hearing another sound that is entirely different. It starts out small, almost imperceptible, but then gets a little louder. After a few seconds I recognize it as what sounded like furniture moving. But nothing is moving in our room. It sounds like it's in a room above us or immediately next to us. We have no idea what's going on, but are thinking it's a pretty weird hour for housekeeping staff to be cleaning or moving furniture or anything. This goes on for about 30 minutes and then finally stops.

It's hard to explain but the room just felt different after that. A little colder and just dead silent except the very little traffic outside at that hour. I roll over and attempt to go to sleep but the whole time I feel like something is watching me. And I can "feel" where I'm being watched from in the room - behind me, in the upper corner of the room, perched, was something just watching me and I dreamed about that all night.

The next morning at checkout, I mention that we were disturbed during the night. The girl at the front desk apologizes and then looks at my key, puzzled, and says, "That's weird. No other guests were on the second floor and I've been the only staff here since midnight." Then she asks exactly what happened and tells us that the second floor is where guest seems to encounter the most hauntings or strange things.

At breakfast...I'm describing my dream to my girlfriend and her eyes start getting big. Then she says, "I had the exact same dream".

I actually remember reading the kitchen reveal post before it was taken down, don't remember all the details but it was really creepy as I recall, cabinets open, weird arrangements of plates and such, and a "thing" in the middle of the room.
