Try the Five Star General Board. That's where the geriatrics hang out.

Call Tea Time Quilting in Houston and ask if they might refer you to a quilt maker who provides this service. They are typically active at the quilting convention, which is one oddly one of the largest conventions in Houston.

I used this lady on Etsy. She did an amazing job stabilizing all the shirts of various stretchiness and some very old near threadbare meaningful shirts. It's not cheap, but she does it right.

Not recommended: problem is that t-shirts are generally made of thin cheap cotton or are a poly blend. Also, many t- shirts are worn a while before being turned into quilts.

Bottom line: they rot out and fall apart after a short period of time.

It's all about the fabric. Even if you back them with sturdy fabric, the stitching will not last.

Now, if you want to make one and hang it on a wall and not use it, I suppose that would be ok, but again, it's all about the fabric.

I would have expected a place called "tea time quilting" would have a phone number like BR5-1269 and be on a party line somehow. Just ask for Agnes.

If in the Houston area, shoot me a PM. My wife is an avid quilter. She does not piece t shirt quilts but partners with a person who does the piecing, then my wife does the quilting on her long-arm machine. She has a t shirt quilt on now.

Yep. That is the upstairs den. She also has two bedrooms where she cuts and pieces her own quilts.

My mom has been making these for years. She was even in Texas Monthly a while back because they did a piece about a business woman who was contracting out some quilt work to people like my mom and then got in over her head after a running a special on Groupon. She ended up walking away from the business leaving 100+ orders for quilts sitting in the warehouse for months.

My mom took it upon herself to go and pick up all of the shirts that had been sent in for quilting, and contacted the owners to see if they still wanted someone to make them or if they just wanted their items back.. Most of them paid her to finish the orders.
