How long do you want to ignore this user?
A Tuesday morning that began as a beautiful day ended in one of the worst terrorists acts ever done and for sure on US soil

I worked scheduling officials for HS VB at the time and remember constantly watching the lastest updates glued to my TV while making/ receiving constant phone calls and emails rescheduling matches. Only one school attempted to play and i had only one official even willing to work and the game got cancelled while they were on the road. Lucky I had told him before he got to the site

Still in shock 24 years later and wake up to watch various documentaries on the day. So much misinformation early on

I was at my condo about two blocks behind the Dixie chicken. It was an odd day because I never really ate breakfast or if I did, it was on the run. I actually sat down to eat a bowl of cereal and I turned the TV on and I saw the second plane hit.

It was so surreal and I was basically in shock the rest of the day. I went to campus to go to class and our first teacher refused to let us talk about it. It was insane to me. I think classes got canceled after that, the rest of the day was a blur.

In Dr. Kaiser's RENR 375 class. Someone came in late and said something about a plane hitting the WTC, since no one else had heard anything Dr. K thanked him for the info and continued with the lecture. The next class we spent the bulk of the time discussing what had happened.

On campus. I was waiting outside the computer lab for a class; the instructor came up and asked me if I'd heard about a plane hitting the towers. I spent the entire class trying to get online to figure out what the hell was going on, then went to the Pavillion with a buddy and watched the news. I don't think any of my classes were cancelled.

I was at work in the Administration Building. Someone asked me if I'd heard about a plane hitting the World Trade Center, and I hadn't. I assumed they were talking about a little Cessna or something. But I started checking.

I tried abcnews.com, cnn.com, etc, but they were all unresponsive. I finally went to kgw.com from Portland, OR and saw what had happened. Spent the rest of the work day across the hall watching everything on television.

In Bryan, had class later that day. Walked into the living room and one of my roommates tells me an airplane just hit the WTC. We watched the second plane hit, and I remember blurting out loud, "That's not an accident."

Working out at the Rec and we saw it on TV and nobody could figure out what was going on at first. Went home and watched it all go down on TV. We were supposed to fly to NJ that weekend for a wedding and did not go.

At work on the coast, contracting for the petrochemical industry.

We didn't have a tv in our building so I went across the street to an auto repair shop that we were friendly with. They had a tv in their little lobby. Watched for a little bit and then went back to the office. Probably watched some at lunch at the Mexican restaurant nearby.

If I remember correctly, we had to pull crews out of some plants because they were locking down until there was a better idea of how widespread the attacks were.

At TAMUG in the student center watching SportsCenter (campus only had like 13 channels back in the day). Next thing you know and without saying a word, someone comes in and grabs the remote changes to a local station.

Teaching my PolSci class. My department head calmly walked into my room and proclaimed, "Those SOBs just flew a plane into the World Trade Center." Then, he quietly exited. That was before the second plane. My rage for those responsible and their enabling countries has never died.

I was on the ramp at Ontario preflighting a MD90 when Clearance Delivery notified us there was a national emergency and a ground stop. All flights cancelled.

Buttoned up the jet and while walking out of the airport saw Tower 2 on fire on a Chilis TV.

Flew back to DFW 5 days later.

Remember watching it on the TV as it all went down. I think my parents had called me to tell me about the first plane.

Awoke to my college roommate coming back into the room so we could watch the 2nd tower fall live. Then went to ENGR 212 where we all had shared laptops. The Middle Eastern teacher even at 12 PM had no idea what had happened so gave us a pop quiz for disrespecting her during class. We tried to explain, but she would have none of it. On Thursday class session, she did apologize profusely and threw out the quiz.

Later that afternoon, was one of 10 people in an ECON 301 class (out of 300 kids). We got a letter grade bump on our final because we showed up to class... otherwise "the terrorists win". Professor was a complete moron but happy with the letter grade bump.

Learned that day how out of touch college level teachers could be...

First plane had already hit when I turned on the TV at home. Was watching when the second plane hit. Had a meeting at a different location than my regular office. By the time we came out of the meeting the first tower had fallen. Heading back to my office I was listening to the news on the car radio as Peter Jennings described the second tower coming down. I still remember exactly what stoplight I was sitting at as he was talking. We didn't get much work done that day.

I was in the kitchen getting ready for work. Saw it as a tragedy but on the way to work I learned on the radio that a second plane flew into the other tower and we all knew it wasn't a one-time time accident. At work we got little work done as even the boss was gathered around the tv set. I was in Dallas and seeing no planes in the sky for about 3 days was surreal.

I overslept that morning. I NEVER overslept.

After I got out of the shower, I turned on the TV in my room. I NEVER turned on the TV before work.

They were talking about the first plane and just getting video of the smoke. The anchors were unsure what kind of plane it had been (there was no mention even of the possibility that it was an airliner).

I got on my way to work and was listening to the news on the radio when someone (average citizen type) was doing a phone interview because they had a view of the towers/smoke from their apartment. As the anchor was asking another question, suddenly the person shouted "another plane just flew into the other tower!" That's when it became apparent that it was an intentional act.

There was a break room at work with a fridge and a TV. The room got filled with people crowding in to see what was happening. I remember sitting on the floor in the break room just feeling dazed.

I remember thinking that too, like, "Ugh, another Cessna accident." It hadn't occurred to me it was an airliner. I wasn't really paying attention when my roommate said a plane flew into the World Trade Towers. I thought he meant a private pilot.

Junior year at ATM; I remember sitting in my ECON class and everyone's phones went off. Wondered what was happening. Got a phone call from my girlfriend telling me a plane flew in to the Twin Towers.

Could not believe what I was hearing. Walked to my next class; and remember to this day, the professor saying; "I know there is some serious stuff going on in the world today, but we need to learn about quantitative analysis." And started the lesson.

Went straight home and started watching the world change on television.

I lived in Eppright that year and I didn't have any classes or work until late morning and I was sleeping in, until this guy in my dorm named Steve came by pounding on everyone's door bonfire wakeup style. "WAKE UP, WE'RE UNDER ATTACK!"

I turned on the TV and it was still a few minutes before the second plane hit. I swear the entire thing was just on loop while the anchors talked to fill the otherwise empty show. Not sure if I watched the first one fall from my room or downstairs with the others, but I was down there for the second.

All around it was a crappy time to be in college between Bonfire, the 2000 election mess, then this and the space shuttle coming apart during re-entry when I was in grad school.

I was doing some work at U of H that day. Saw both planes hit the towers, then left the hotel and went to U of H Moody Towers, 18-story high-rise dorms (not much of a high-rise compared to the WTC) residents were freaking out, thinking they were next. I told them I was there to do a job and if the terrorists stopped my work, they won. I got the job done, left, and went back home to CS. My little victory over terror.
