I'm really at a loss as to how people can enjoy that style of marching and playing. It's just big, sloppy, out of tune and dated.

The good news for me - no line at the concession stand for the first 10 minutes of halftime.

What about the games that the band doesn't go to, like last weekend?

It's entertaining. People want to be entertained.

I completely agree that the Blue Coats doing a show to some obscure Tchaikovsky composition takes more talent, but I'd still rather watch the Aggie Band. And don't get all high-and-mighty on us. Drum corps are allowed to mic people up and use speakers to alter notes and pipe in sound. Aggie band doesn't mic up the band at half time. It's way more pure.

Regardless, even DCI is not really a halftime show. It's an activity all it's own. But it is the very best in the world.

I just wish all the kids at A&M who would enjoy an opportunity to march were given one. My other alma mater, Virginia Tech, has found a way for both types of college bands to co-exist. A&M is having no part of that - to the detriment of 95% of the student body.

Speaking of which…..
Can anyone find the halftime drill from the 2002 Oklahoma game (when we knocked off #1 Oklahoma)? I've looked amd failed.

Every student at A&M has the opportunity to join the Corps of Cadets. And while there is an audition process I am not aware of interested Cadets being turned away from the band.

Yeah, joining college band should not entail having to join another club in order to be in it.

NO. Absolutely not. Virginia Tech is the poster child for what not to do with the cadet band at a senior military college. Their cadet band is tiny and now only performs for corps functions.

If a kid wants to "march" but doesn't want to join the Aggie Band, they already have that opportunity. Every other college has a band. Pick one.

Stop trying to make A&M like everywhere else. We are who we are. If you like another school better, go there.
