First, some context.
I like to give myself about 30 more min than I really need when heading to the airport to account for anything unexpected. I also scheduled the pickup to happen at an intersection in the neighborhood so the driver can't pinpoint where I live. Can never be too careful.
So today I'm in an uber and about 1/3 of the way through the ride. Driver has a 4.98 rating.
So far, the driver had apologized as he needed to get on a phone call. I couldn't care less about that, NBD. On phone for 2 min.
Then says "sorry boss I gotta get gas". Again, not a huge deal and why I budget extra time for unexpected things like this. Why as a driver would you accept an airport ride when you knowingly need gas, I dunno, but fine, I'll give the guy a break.
So he pulls off into a gas station, I'm working on my laptop, and I notice he starts pumping the gas and never turned the engine off (WTF???) and proceeds to run to use the bathroom before I can catch him to say anything.
So I get out of the ticking time bomb and as he comes back, I let him know he left his engine on and needs to turn it off immediately. "Sorry about that boss, I forgot"
So then we're on our way, and he's going 95 on the interstate at several points until I make it to the airport.
I've never been punitive Uber driver reporting/ratings before. I appreciate that the majority of them, especially the younger ones, likely don't have better opps at the moment and are likely in a bind in life.
So do you give the driver a good rating? Bad rating? Report safety/legal issue to Uber?
I haven't rated yet, although leaving the engine on while pumping gas has me leaning to report it. That's unforgivable in my book.
The rest of the stuff, even the speeding, I'm generally not too bothered by.
So what would you do?
I know, I know, cool story
