Below is the worst conversation of all time because it is from every single person every single morning. And no one cares. But they just say it. adding "how are you doing" is so unnecessary and like nails on a chalk board

I find scratching myself in the crotchal region tends to stop those pleasantries. I mean you really got to get up in there to sell it.

I start talking to them about things they probably don't care about like how my fantasy football team did or some TV show I watched

I had a big ole pleasantry this morning. Not sure the other folks in there found it so pleasant.

Heh - I worked for a Norwegian O&G operator back in 2012-2016. One of our VPs was a very gregarious Norwegian / Swedish dude (can't precisely recall) Carl Fabian.

Good morning! (He'd really say it with his chest). Man was your prototypical skinny pants, very well dressed European.

"Good morning, Carl Fabian - how are you?"

"I am... FAN...TAS...TIC" and would then launch into a barrage of what he did that weekend and what his kids did and what new BBQ place he tried and loved.

We all quickly learned NOT to ask Carl Fabian how he was doing.

I no longer work at an office, but the rules always were, if we're at the coffee pot, and it's my first cup, I don't have to speak. A nod is good enough.

I hate that I'm a dont talk to me before coffee person, but ive become that way too.

Ironically, i think most of the people on this forum would agree the new Gen Z folks have no clue how to even speak and likewise complain of that.

Try going to the Netherlands or Belgium some time. They say alsjeblieft for everything. Someone hands you something and says it, and you say it back to them. They are polite but it seems a large overuse of effectively saying "please".

I prefer Finland. There is very little in the way of small talk. Quiet. Coffee, and Quiet.
