Hump Day Zzzzz

When he was six my great nephew's bright face came to the car to say goodbye to me and my wife. The gentle medium size harmless dog was on my wife's lap in the passenger seat and had been a little bit nervous of all the people that were gathered for Thanksgiving at a house rental in Oklahoma. E really enjoyed himself, especially getting to act like an adult by soaking in the hot tub outside.
With a big smile on his cute face, he stuck his head slightly in the window to say goodbye and for the first time before or after, our dog barked and snapped at a person, but didn't make contact. The dog was just nervous and being protective, but we apologized to my nephew.
Monday he died in his twenties from a Fentanyl overdose. I don't know if he realized that he was taking Fentanyl or if something was laced, or if he overdid it accidently, or offed himself on purpose, but Fentanyl is a scourge. He lived a very hard life mainly because of his mother's lifestyle and having no dad around by the dad's choice. Sorry for the downer way to start the early topic but I want E to be thought of by strangers. He was a good boy. Hug your love ones and tell folks that a lot of drugs are laced. One time can kill.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I am certain E brought a lot of joy to people in his short time on this earth.

A similar happened to my buddy freshman year, he just passed out and never woke up. I didn't even believe it when I was told and I don't think it finally sank in until I lit his candle at Muster that spring.


Stories like this are why I always keep Narcan in my truck. I've only had to use it once and it was in a place that I wouldn't have expected. It's like $40, doesn't require a prescription, and super simple to use. I wish everyone carried it with them.

Thank you and I'm sorry for your loss. I read about how you don't need a prescription in Texas. I'm going to get two inhalers that come in a set for about $35 on Amazon. Also at HEB, CVS, and Walgreens.

I went out once last night but saw no Northern Lights. I'll try again tonight and maybe even drive away from the city. I've never seen the lights, and they're on my bucket list. Was going to see them when I visit the Yukon (also on my bucket list), but I'll be happy to see them in Missouri as well.

Who can think of lunch in times like these

Was very cold on this day in 2019, and I would have had the windows open in 1999. Sun is starting to set awfully early. Sunny days help with that as does getting up early enough so as not to miss out on any daylight. I'm bad about sleeping in on the weekends; not good for the short days of November.

Have you thought about getting a kitten? You clearly love animals, and a cat (IMO) would deal better with your traveling than a dog.

On Sunday he will fly back to Reno and Maria, yep. Maria has lived there for about 8 months so it's not a new development. Yesterday he flew to LA with a cousin and great uncle to go to the Iowa / USC game on Saturday. We are an Iowa family.
