Why was I this old before I appreciated The Traveling Wilburys?

I bought Vol. 1 right after I got out of recruit training in 1989 and wore the tape out. Great, great music.

I have to get in on the Traveling Wilburys love. "End of the Line" was a guilty pleasure for me back in '89. I couldn't let my Metallica and GnR friends know that I loved it.

They seemed old, but there really weren't any older rockers around. Roy was Elvis-era, and they had a freakin' Beatle. Yes, we all know Rock and Roll was born from Blues and Country before it, but there's about 10 guys who were the Adams of mainstream (mostly white) rock and roll. Orbison was one of them.

"Tweeter and Monkey Man" is a great song. And probably ripe for being the basis of a "True Detective" season.
