East Bernard.

The town is a bit of a dump, but Vincek's smokehouse has great daily lunch specials and their meat counter has some lovely selections. The stuffed pork chop is great on the grill.

Praseks isn't too far away in El Campo, but Vinceks is less crowded and easier on the wallet.

Wife's family are all from East Bernard. Spent a lot of time there now as a result.

used to go there for Easter every year for 10+ years. Extreme Makeover also built a house out there mid 2000s.

I was on that episode, very briefly.

Wife is from East Bernard so I've spent more than my share of time there. Vinceks is too heavy on the smoke, but I still enjoy their BBQ overall. When I'm there I usually get at least half a dozen Ham and Swiss Kolache to take home.

In-laws also have a place in Seadrift which is a better fit for this thread. I loved fishing there, but damn...after a long weekend I was ready to get home. It was great when the kids were small and have lots of good memories nonetheless

Currently building a project in Mentone, in Loving County, so I'm there regularly. Population of Mentone is about 20 and Loving County is 65-ish.

Built projects in Wink and Kermit as well, but those are booming metropolises compared to Mentone.

Quemado, just upstream from Eagle Pass. Dad grew up there and spent many a summer with my grandparents.

That's a good one. I did some time there one summer in college, working on a project with my professor and a grad student.

There's no lake in Big Lake.

I used to hunt geese in Lissie which is a suburb of East Bernard. Ate at Vincek's after the morning hunt many times.

Silver Valley, Tx. It's now an unincorporated community in Coleman County. Grandparents are from that area.
In early 70's I took my grandmother to visit relatives and she described what the town looked like years ago. She had me stop along the road and walk over in a pasture to find the original concrete curbs that defined the Main Street. Nothing left but vacant land as far as you could see. I was surprised and found the curbs. They might still be there now.

Smallest communities I've been through are Jo Jan Van, Divide, Stiles, Delhi and Biry.

Smallest with a post office would probably be Divide.

We have some farm land near Stiles. I grew up in/around Midkiff.

I've been to Vincek's in East Bernard. Once. drove there from Angleton with my brother. Maps says it's about 1 hr 10 minutes but for some reason that drive felt like 3 hrs each way.

Scroggins, TX. Grandfather grew up there before moving to the corpus area. Still have land up there but there's a post office and a ton of chicken houses, and that's it.
