A client sent me a Goode Co. pecan pie for a Christmas present and for the life of me I cannot see why mailing a pie would be a good idea. The packaging looked perfectly fine when it arrived, but when I opened the box, the pie was completely destroyed. At least it was shrink-wrapped to contain the mess.

This is the tin:

I transferred it to a new pie tin that was structurally sound.

Parlor Panther #2 appreciated the crust crumbs going everywhere when I removed the shrink wrap.

I feel bad my client spent $60 plus shipping for that hot mess.

Yes. It was like everything else Goode Co. makes ... mediocre.

FYI... HEB has an awesome chocolate pecan pie.

Pecan pie is proof we live in a simulation. I refuse to believe people like that garbage.

I have had a vendor send me one every year. It has always been in good shape. Shipped in a wood box. Always intact.

But I agree it is a mediocre pie and I love pecan pie.

Perhaps they ought to make the pecan pie like fruit cake and just label it "pecan cake" and mail it out that way.

I had to do a double take making sure I didn't already post in this thread.

I brown my butter and it takes the pie to another level. Just one more read to never buy store bought. If you don't have time to make your own , take both pilsbury crusts and lightly rub one with softened butter. Stack the other on top and use as one. It's a big improvement and closer to homemade

Also, whole pecans make pretty pictures of whole pies, but make slices look mushy because they push down when the knife comes down. Pecan pieces make much better looking slices
