Oil change done.
Office day today. Pretty low key day expected, which is a nice change from the normal ass on fire mode.
No need to mow as both the front and back have been done in the past two days.

I keep getting knee surgery bills. I got a bill yesterday. It's the third bill I've received, each for a different amount with a vague as hell description of what it's for. The surgery was May 13. When will I be paid in full? I'm definitely going to look into better insurance next time it's open enrollment season. I miss Scott & White.

We had a very wet April and May, and we have minor flooding going on in Mid-Missouri. Need some sunny days, and we have three coming up. Supposed to top out at 79F today and be 57F tonight. Open windows = Happy cats.

Ags baseball season is over. We haven't had pitching all year long, but our offense disappeared the last two games. I'm not happy with the state of the program, but I don't donate money, so no one cares. Still going to watch the super regionals next weekend. Oregon is at Texas, so I'll be a Quacker Backer.

From my vast experience with medical billing: you will burn 2-3 hours per week talking to the medical providers and insurance

They will finally have the amount due close to correct by the time they send you the pink "final notice" bill. All of them before that are wrong and they hope you don't notice or don't care if they are correct

Only one hospital has ever sent me an all-inclusive bill. The rest did a bill for hospital, surgeon, labs, radiologist, anesthesia, etc.

It is hard manage. There used to be a Quicken product called Medical Expense Manager that I used for several years to track expenses and reconcile stuff and put down my mileage and meals and parking fees and such. They stopped making it for awhile but maybe there is something else out there.

The only all-inclusive, itemized medical bills I've received were from when I experienced illness outside of the US, including one in Mexico. Transparency equals accountability so of course the US medical system can't have that.

What is your obligation if things don't go smoothly? Flight delays or whatever else that can go wrong?

ChatGPT Health currently has a waiting list, and I am not sure when it will be readily available, but one of its purposes is to help with healthcare and billing navigation and management. You could use regular ChatGPT for the purposes now, but Health is going to have additional levels of security not present in the regular tool.

Just the deciphering of services rendered (often CPT codes or worse, just vague "we did a thing" descriptions) and charges into one holistic view is really helpful. Being able to integrate plan coverage details from insurance and reconcile that against the bills is the next level. To me, those are some of the most powerful use cases for AI at the everyday consumer level.

So I don't book flights for weddings. It becomes too much if more than a handful of people have flight issues - there is only one of me.

I do however, book all their transportation to/from the resort. I do monitor their flights. And then there are usually people who complain they got 1 bed instead of 2, etc (which they know is an option when booking).

Overall I've had very few complaints from destination weddings I've booked. And usually it's people being grumpy after traveling all day and is better the following day.

But if things go haywire at the resort, issues with the wedding coordinator, etc, those are all things I step in for.

Ironically, two of the largest weddings I've booked were at very budget hotels, the kind you just know you would get complaints. First couple didn't care - they just wanted to have it at a place their guests could afford. 50 rooms, not one single complaint. Nothing but praise. Next year had a 45 room at the same chain, just a slightly better resort. 1 room complaint about beds (which was fixed next day), and someone after the trip was over reported the pool was missing a drain cover and thought it was very dangerous and resort did nothing.

But besides flights, it would basically be an advoate for anything that goes wrong.

So when I'm bored, I'd like to register a TA sock like "methed_out_ag" and start writing all kinds of weird sh** under it. How do you set it up so you can register a number without actually having a phone with that number? There's got to be a way.

EDIT - This is now needed to verify a new account.

There are sites for a temporary phone number but I don't remember how that works

M.D. Anderson for me. Everybody works for them. All of the specialists and labs and radiology and everything. I paid off treatment for 12 years but only ever sent a payment to one place. That was better than dealing with Methodist or College Station Medical Center or St. Joseph.
