Then when the credits rolled at the end of TFA, having the same disappointment as when the Phantom Menace ended. All that hype and excitement and that's what they came up with? And to mirror Phantom Menace, not knowing it was all down hill from there.

Revenge of the Sith is a masterpiece compared to Rise of Skywalker though.

I think the prequels get far too much hate. They certainly aren't the best but some people act like they are complete dog ****, ruin the entire franchise, don't consider them canon, etc.

I think sometime fans put the original trilogy on such a high pedestal that nothing will ever compare to them. They are bound to be disappointed by almost any new content. I just find that sad. I am going to enjoy the new stuff that comes out for what it is and not compare it to the original. And if I am being honest the original trilogy isn't perfect either.

I agree.

I think even the sequel trilogy gets too much hate.

They definitely could have been better, but I watch them and just don't see the justification for some of the over the top comments.

I have way more of an issue with how Lucasfilm developed the sequel trilogy than I do with the films themselves.

Hate for the sequel trilogy is justified.

I would make the argument that the ST was objectively bad simply because there was no plan for the actual story.

They might as well have made an anthology if they were just going to shoot from the hip from film to film.

All 9 Skywalker saga movies have the wrong title. Mind blown.

I was as happy as I'd been since the end of ROTJ at the end of TFA, but different strokes.

Han Solo telling you about the Force and the Jedi being real is top tier Star Wars from any movie ever. At least until the Luke, Han, Djin, Grogu, Ahsoka, and young Ben Solo team up to fight Thrawn in a few years.

But that's like saying Jaws 3 is a masterpiece compared to Jaws:The Revenge.

Both things can be true.

ROTS >> TROS
Jaws 3 >>>>> Jaws the Revenge (one of my 3 worst movies ever to sit through)

The difference is that ROTS is actually a great movie in its own right, whereas Jaws 3 just sucks

surprise surprise....another star wars / marvel / disney thing that ended up being more expensive than originally reported....

original reports were the acolyte cost a total gross of 180 million before UK tax breaks...now it's come out that it cost about 230 million before UK tax breaks....

the article points out that one of the single biggest expenses was the 30.4 million spent on staff...i dont know what a typical or average number should be for a tv show like this but whoever wrote this article seems to think that's a pretty high number.

a comparable show in terms of episodes and length would be Skeleton Crew...a show that was better written, more interesting, better paced, better acted, and better looking....and it cost 136 million.....

good grief.....

here...something else to discuss other than Star Wars memes cause that's all we got right now....

There's always a ton of Star Wars news out there, This thread just isn't fun anymore because there is so much negativity if everything doesn't live up to everyone's unique standards of perfection. You post news about any project and all those who didn't like the last installment feel the need to remind you they didn't like it repeatedly and thoroughly.

While I understand the sentiment and can agree to an extent, let's be honest, there has been an objective drop in quality since TROS (or probably Solo). Fans expressing their disapproval, while overdone at times or from certain crowds, isn't without merit, sadly.

That said, I truly hope we are on the cusp of turning the ship around.

Andor S2 was amazing television, we've got multiple movies on the horizon, and hopefully a galaxy-wide showdown with Thrawn we're building towards with Ahsoka and Mando&Grogu. (Please get Luke in there...)

I've got no problem with anyone posting their dislike of things when they come out. it's just the decade long beatdown that follows that has worn me out. This thread used to be a fun place to speculate about what would happen between these 2 characters or what we thought a character's motivation, or just silly speculation stuff. Doing that these days gets you 1-2 honest responses and 10 hate mongers. I guess that's just life on the Internet these days.

when you started a purposeful thread on The Acolyte and asked for viewers only to keep it actual discussion, that was a pretty good idea.

https://texags.com/forums/13/topics/3462812

This thread however has become a general catch-all related to arguably the most popular media franchise in existence.

There are individual threads started every time a new endeavor premieres.

Seems pretty reasonable to avoid this thread and stick to the ones you start and can escalate to staff when your needs and standards of internet discussion are unmet.

Or maybe just don't take things so seriously and live in the real world where none of this stuff matters whatsoever.

The fact remains Disney has absolutely bungled this franchise. Criticism is warranted. Humor does exist in some of these massive Disney failures.

Something to consider regarding the true? story of the prequels

I think he makes some good points regarding who the primary character of the prequels really is. I've always considered the entirety of Star Wars (1 - 6) to be the story of the fall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker, but it could just as easily be considered the rise and fall of Sheev Palpatine.
