I think this is the problem with studios today. They don't have a naysayer to tell them, "You're ****ing high if you think this will make money," when they're considering a 9 figure budget. I mean at that point you need to be justifying a 10 digit box office, and hardly any of these movies do.

This movie was awesome. I saw it in IMAX, which did the visuals justice. The soundtrack was pumping loud. I appreciated all the nods to the original from the obvious to the subtle.

They also hinted heavily towards a 4th Tron. I hope people can drag themselves away from movies like Wicked and the other lame movies long enough to experience this so we can get a 4th movie.
No, I don't care what CNN or Miss NOW said this time

Son and I see it yesterday. It was a blast. If you're not a huge fan of the original, I could see how it wouldn't be your bag. We loved it though. Soundtrack lives up to the hype.

Leto is better than his normal slop because this role is "a computer program trying to figure out human existence", which appears to describe Leto's actual condition.

Really didn't do anything with Tron Legacy storyline. Ten minutes of original Tron fan service. Set up a sequel for no reason. Did a few slightly interesting things to correlate modern AI principles with the world of Tron. Requires more suspension of disbelief than Legacy, which I think is already a problem because it's constantly making you ask "why would this computer world possibly need to work this way"..

One example of good - showing reinforcement/adversarial training of an AI as an endless battle simulator. Great way to bring a real concept in a way that works in the existing world. And then immediately we get a ridiculous example where the interface between Bad CEO Man and Leto-Tron is a giant psychological torture Oz face. What? Why?

It's very cliche and the plot points feel so workshopped and rote. But it was still fun and seeing it in IMAX made the experience worthwhile to me. Like if you see a movie and wonder why they didn't try to go for it and maximize the experience? This one did that. For all its flaws, they went for it.

Saw it yesterday in IMAX with my son and we both really enjoyed it. As much as there were some slow and frustrating moments in Legacy, this made up for it as it was a non-stop ride. I had not seen anything with Evan Peters before this, but I think he gave a great, dark performance under a Disney umbrella. Jared Leto did an adequate job and wasn't too annoying outside of the Depeche Mode comment.
Not sure how much I will like it on the future home rewatches, but I like how it connected to TRON of the 80's. If we get a sequel to this, great, but if it stays a trilogy, I'm sure that will be fine, too

Disney's marketing played down (or at least did not emphasize) the film's inclusive cast….including co-lead Greta Lee and Jodie Turner-Smith and Hasan Minhaj…….

Was it "fear" of becoming a target in the ever-raging culture wars?

IMO they deserve major credit for this, especially as Iger seems to be unfortunately stepping away from Diversity and Inclusion initiatives.

The campaign instead focused on the film's headliner, Jared Leto, who was also an active producer, and the music from Nine Inch Nails.

That's fine, but why not emphasize the major strengths of the film, and welcome change from the original?

Related, there are potential franchises that could be revived with more Diverse casting:

National Treasure, for sure, and I'd love to see them revive and modernize Prince of Persia, Mars Needs Moms, and The Sorcerer's Apprentice.

Another hot idea in the Town is bringing in K-pop stars for revivals of IP.

For example, Lisa (Blackpink, The White Lotus) would be amazing as Rapunzel in Tangled IP. She's a talented actress and singer with global appeal, but more importantly Disney could reinforce Inclusive values AND really tap into global audience in a major way.

No. And as much as I enjoyed the movie, I didn't care enough about any of the characters for their storylines to carry into a sequel. And if those characters had a sequel with Sam and Quorra, well IMO it would just be awkward instead of cool IMO.

This is the Dillinger Grid which is separate from Flynn's/Encom's grid. We see Flynn's grid but it is the early version we see in the first movie and Tron was migrated over to the grid we see in Legacy. If I understand correctly.

Movie was awesome, and the best IMAX 3D offering I've seen in years.

No plot, nothing made sense. But it was a great visual and audio spectacle in 3d IMAX.

The fact that they've maintained Red = Bad, Blue = Good for three movies without anyone even mentioning it is pretty funny

It's been a thing since at least the 70's, and blue is by far the more popular color in just about everything. It's not all that funny, and certainly not meaningful.

I meant "in universe" mention it. Like Star Wars has some lore about it being based on your force sensitivity towards light or dark.

In Tron it's just like, hey he's a good guy now, he changed color? Ok then.

Loved it! Saw it at a D-box theater which was over the top.

Tron Legacy is one of my 21st Century favorites. I felt like this movie was more of the same. Amazing visuals, amazing sound and music.

With regards to the plots, there really isn't a good reason for either Tron sequel to exist, but I think both stories are solid enough to pull me in.

And I would agree... Probably the most likeable & relatable Leto has ever been in a movie. He carried the movie on his back and it just worked.

Will be adding this to my collection and looking forward to future viewing.

Loved it! As someone mentioned earlier, this is more about the Dillinger grid than Flynn. A lot of references to the first movie. I chuckled at "Dumont Recycling"

I didn't see it in Imax, but this sums it up for me.

The story was pretty dumb. A lot of it just seemed like a giant shortcut, without much explanation. Lots of build-up, for a quick ending that didnt entirely add up.

But....if you turned off your brain, and just enjoyed the action, it was worth a matinee ticket.

I dont care about Leto one way or the other...but I thought he was good in this.
