The trailer is okay. It doesn't make me want to buy advanced tickets, but it also doesn't make me want to skip it. I have not read the book, nor am I likely ever to. I expect this to be more of an inspired by take rather than an adaptation. I will just take it as a fantasy movie.

With all of that, for me Christopher Nolan has earned the benefit of the doubt. I don't care who he cast with American accents, or armor or dialogue choices. If The Odyssey entertains me, then Nolan will have done what I need him to do with his movies.

But I still want Nolan's take on Blue Thunder.

If Ellen Page is in this as Achilles and Kendrick Lamar is showing up, who's to say Odysseus doesn't end up flying Blue Thunder to fight the cyclops?

I'd watch that movie twice on opening day.

it's right in line with my time-traveling movie idea when you find out that the real reason Texas defeated Mexico in 18 minutes at San Jacinto it because the Battleship Texas time-traveled back to 1836 and was waiting for Santa Anna.

I taught the Odyssey to ninth graders for about 10 years.

This version doesn't look too bad at all.

I note that it even includes Odysseus' dog Argos, which is one of my favorite parts.

As Odysseus is approaching his home on his return to Ithaca, he is in disguise and cannot reveal himself, even as he comes upon the faithful dog he had left behind, a puppy then, now an elderly dog.

Quote:

As they were speaking, a dog that had been lying asleep on a large pile of mule and cow dung raised his head and p r i c k e d up his ears. This was Argos, whom Odysseus had bred before setting out for Troy but had left behind without ever being able to enjoy taking him on a hunt.

As soon as Argos saw Odysseus standing there, he dropped his ears and wagged his tail, but he was too old and tired to rise and run to his master. When Odysseus saw the dog on the other side of the yard, he dashed a tear from his eyes so his companion would not notice it, and followed his companion into the house.

But Argos passed into the darkness of death, now that he had fulfilled his destiny of faith and seen his master once more after twenty years.

Kind of surprised Nolan didn't cast a cat to play the dog, just to **** around. You know how cats can get about representation.

At this point, nothing but speculation and stupid Reddit guessing.

So when is Peter Dinklage set to play Manute Bol in his biopic?
