Yeah, but there have always been extreme ****** bag exceptions like that..."toxic masculinity" is always used in a much broader sense. Basically a way to demean and spread hate against all men who aren't effeminate, passive/submissive liberals. Youre avg liberal feminist who used that teram probably thinks at least 50-60% of all men in this country are masculine///to a toxic degree. It's dumb. Especially considering that most of the men that these weirdos despise build their cars, their roads, roof their homes, keep socioety running and from basically fallina apart overnight.

Sorry, but I don't allow liberals to change the english language for me. I don't bow to their re-definition of man and woman and I won't let them make 2 words equivalent to 1 word.

The more that people defer to these idiotic definitions the more power they are voluntarily given.

I agree, I just think the phrase "toxic masculinity" is stupid because they act like it is some pervasive societal bogeyman. There is just masculinity. Then there are assh*les and d00shbags...same as always.

But masculinity is what saves people from rising floodwaters, helps people broken down or with a flat on the side of the road, makes sure we all have electricity and gasoline available at all times, makes sure we have groceries on the shelves, and keeps us safe from foreign adversaries. Feminists (both male and female) that screech about "toxic masculinity!" are pretty much useless to society.

We binged it last night, gripping stuff, thought it was well done and acting superb. Some slow spots but outstanding camera work. Today's kids are a different breed and I pray for my grandkids that they can live through their teen years

I've seen it, and while the single shot is an interesting aspect to the series and some of the camera is amazing, the storyline itself isn't really compelling or enlightening. They show you the murder from the beginning and then don't show any twists or turns for the next 3 episodes. The takeaway is that if a British girl turns down a British boy for a date, then he kills her. Seems pretty ridiculous honestly.

I thought it was very well done. The one shot stuff was really interesting to me, and some of the scenes had some of the best acting I've seen.

That being said - this thing packs a huge emotional punch if you're a parent with kids in the middle to high school range, or younger that will be there eventually. The concept of nuclear families doing the very best they can and something still going horribly wrong with 1 kid and not the other is also interesting.

The hand wringing on this thread is a joke and frankly just soft. Put your politics down for just a sec. If you like good acting, and interesting camera work, it's great.

Now F16 me lol. Great show.

You seem to have stopped watching it because a not true story isn't based on a true story which is…a take.

But there's also half a dozen plus other posts complaining about how it's not following the true story it's not about (not to mention the usual posters creating entire scenarios about imaginary people and what they think).

Could also be because the Brit English is difficult to understand and I worked with real juevnile offenders for 2 years, before i dealt with adult offenders, to inlude ones in for murder, and serious $e%ual Assault, some where as young as the boy portrayed in the show with victims the same age. I don't have to guess how this ends. I know exactly how this ends.

I don't watch prison movies, I don't watch "lock up" or "scared straight" or "gang land" or any of that either.

So, no not, y'all".

Upon reflection, this miniseries isn't enough of any one thing to be totally positive about it.

Sometimes too intentionally clever, and sometimes not subtle at all. Disjointed.

If the uncertainty and the unsettled feelings of the viewer were the point, then I'd hope the producers would own that. If not, then the show is about how one horrible event causes worlds to crumble. And if that was the point instead, then be up front about that.

I thought the aspect of one continuous shot was interesting, and pretty well done. Stephen Graham was good as the dad. And I'll echo everyone who says that the final scene is a terrific and terrible one.

My only political reaction is to say that, I hope the police and legal procedures portrayed are heavily fictionalized, otherwise any opinion I expressed on that topic would likely cause me to be arrested the next time I step foot in the UK.

Just finished it. Was intrigued by the one continuous shot thing for Episodes 1 and 2.
3 didn't move the story along at all and was a waste of an hour.
4 was literally them driving around, buying paint, and then crying, another waste of an hour.

Completely disappointed in the show. AppleTv shows like Blackbird are 10x the quality of this show.

No twists. Nothing unexpected. Last two episodes were just junk filler. This could have been a boring 2 hour movie instead of a boring 4 hour miniseries.

Synopsis: Another netflix dud...

This show reminds me of artsy films where everyone talks about how great it was but no one actually enjoyed the movie. I don't care it was sad or dark. But tell a compelling story. This didn't

Finished this show Friday night. Meh. The cinematography and acting were pretty good (though not as good as say Hitchcock's"Rope"). Other than that I didn't care for it. It was slow and plodding with lots of things introduced but not resolved. They could have told the same story in half the time.

Edited to add: I didn't know about the change of details until now. Seems to me that if they wanted to make a show based on a true story about toxic masculinity, and if that is a big problem, then they should have no problem doing just that. Changing it up the way they did, well, they're just attacking their own straw man and putting this miniseries firmly in the fiction/entertainment realm where it fell short for me.

I don't understand why they painted nonse on the van. Nowhere in the story did they say anyone was diddling any kids. Yes, I had to google what that word meant. I thought it was going to be some secret kid code, like in episode two. But, no. Just boredom. So much potential and build up and then nada.
