Great story, Kraken. I am friends with Bob Cabana, four-time shuttle astronaut and two-time captain. We are friends with his daughter and her family through church and kids growing up together in Katy.

When I would see him, we would talk about the shuttle program, NASA, his Air Force career, his personal experience on the flights (including what it felt like on take-off), etc. I told him about Countdown, and one day we sat in my truck and listened to the song. He loved it. Was awesome to hear him identify all the voices on the Houston to shuttle radio transmissions and discuss other details. He told me they used to call Young and Crippen "Old and Crippled" because STS-1 was supposed to launch in the late 70s, but got delayed until 1981. So, they said Young and Crippen would be "Old and Crippled" by the time it went up.

Gonna see them in CDMX on the 20th. First concert I ever went to was The Police in Mexico City in 1981, at my age I am thinking that this could be my last hurrah. We will see.

Looking forward to it and looking forward to visiting my dearly missed home town.

Rick Beato's interview with Geddy (and a little Alex) has dropped.

We are getting close to the start. I'm stoked.

The other half of the Rick Beato interview. This one with Alex.

The two interviews are amazing. Listening to the creative process for how they wrote and who took each part of the process is something I've never heard before.

And they each have very different recollections of Moving Pictures. Geddy says it was very hard to make and a struggle. Alex remembers it just the opposite.

The nightly set list will be 20-22 songs out of the 38 or so total in the tour list.

Loved the story he told about Geddy's reaction to the solo Alex recorded for The Garden. It's one of my favorites as well.

That is a good one.

The solo in Jacob's Ladder is also really underrated.

I just want to see the one with Annika. I'm 99% certain they did these from an auditorium in Toronto while they were doing rehearsals. So she's there and I'll bet there is footage with her.

Geddy mentioned the solo not solo in Red Sector A. One like that to me is in Earthshine. Love that song.

After watching the interviews with Geddy and Alex, I also watched Rick Beato's interview with Nick Shirley which was really interesting too.

I fly out to LA in 8 days on a solo mission to see the first show of the tour. I can't believe it's been almost 11 years since that final show at the (newly reopened at the time) Forum.

After watching the Rick Beato interviews, I've gone back and started listening to some of the stuff from the 70s that I haven't listened to in a while. It's funny how I've obviously listened to Rush so much over the past 45 years that I don't remember the names of all the songs right off hand but I sure remember the music.

Another fun SoCal Rush memory is that when I was in the Disney Computer Operator poker game, one of the guys who used to host was (no joke) Gwen Stefani's uncle. He had a great setup in his converted garage including a signed "No Doubt" poster. He used to run music DVDs in the background while we were playing. One of the popular ones was "Rush in Rio". I sure do miss that Entourage/LOST era of Los Angeles.

I'm also looking forward to the Sunday night Fort Worth show next month because my VMI grad daughter is going with me. I've taken her to see Michael Schenker and Megadeth. Can't wait for her to see Rush.

See you in Fort Worth.

And I've watched R30 more than any other DVD I have. And streamed it on YouTube at work a bunch too

I think my most watched one is 2011 Time Machine: Live in Cleveland. I have Rush in Rio, R30, R40, Clockwork Angels Tour, and just added the remastered Grace Under Pressure: Live in Toronto to my library. I also have Beyond the Lighted Stage and Time Stands Still. I'll go on a full rewatch binge in July.
