Heat is horrible. Tried several times over the years, always too late and after a few drinks. I'd fall asleep.

Finally watched it within the last year and it is cheesy with an often comical script with worse acting. Just a dumb movie.

Maybe if I'd finished it within a decade after it's release I'd have a better opinion or some nostalgia.

This. Its a really bad movie, but some of the songs are pretty catchy. But everyone should go do a midnight showing of it once. It was a fun experience but not something I ever need to do again. There are some strange people out there.

Is this an age thing? Given that it was made in the '70s, I could see that it moves too slowly for MODERN AUDIENCES, as the Critical Drinker might say.

For example, I love old Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns, but I have to be in the right frame of mind because they do tend to drag.

Or is it a dislike of gangster/mafia movies?

tbf, the movie has not withstood the test of time very well. Even so, I enjoy watching it just for the flying, the music, and the characters. It is possible to enjoy the heck out of movies regardless of their quality or when movies don't live up to their original impression decades later. Top Gun Maverick blew it out of the water.

You are really missing out. Let me ask...were u distracted when watching? Looking at your phone , talking, etc? You reallly gotta pay attention to appreciate it. Even then you have to see it through. Also, I only fell in love w it on my 2nd viewing. Imo its the most perfect film ever made sans Sonnys air punch at Carlo.

I don't know think it enjoys much popular acclaim, but I didn't finish The Last Jedi. I sat down to watch it and about the time they went to the casino planet I realized that I had enjoyed approximately zero minutes of the film to that point and turned it off.
