Any time Crispin Glover is on a late night show makes this look completely normal.

This one is a classic.
I was going to say anything involving Norm, although he was intentionally awkward as a gag.
Norm McDonald was a national treasure. This world got markedly worse when he left it.

Norm late night interviews were not "weird". They were just Norm being legendary.

It was planned but only from Phoenix's perspective. It was part of a mockumentary Casey Affleck was making.
IMO ... what makes Norm's appearance with CTS so weird is that she is trying so hard not to give in and admit that Carrot Top is a freak and the movie is lame. But she really has no defense so she just kind of plays along.
It's classic Norm but the fact that this young actress is caught up in the middle of it is both hilarious and awkward. She was no match for Norm and she knew it. So she just smiles sweetly and prays for a commercial break.

Goldthwait lighting Leno's chair on fire has to be up there. Getting arrested as the result of your interview seems like an auto qualifier.
Crispin Glover is always the first to come to mind. Second place for me would be Andy Kaufman and Jerry Lawler. That was when kayfabe was still a thing, and those two guys put on a master class. People unfamiliar with pro wrestling who witnessed that must have been freaking out.

One of my favorite late night interviews was when Sandra Bernhard was on Letterman during the time she was palling around with Madonna in the late 80s. Letterman invited Madonna out onto the stage during the interview and she and Sandra were dressed exactly alike (white t-shirts and jorts) and were clearly under the influence of something. Hilarity ensued.

She's BSC. Even Pete Davidson, who somehow used to date her, said he wouldn't go back to her in an interview back in the day when she became single again and a reporter asked him if they could end up together again.
