Watched it last night since KOT7K is over, it was interesting enough to keep me in for another ep. Writing and characters were solid.

So far it seems like a somewhat fomulaic "here's what happened that's obviously not going to be what happened" situation so curious to see where they take it.

Jason Bateman NEVER DISSAPOINTS!

I am not sure there is a better actor both comedically and dramatically.

there are better comedians and better dramatic actors- but name one actor who can do both as well as Bateman does.

really loved the first episode- and the wife of fat man is HOT

I'm going to slow play this one. Meaning if there is some exciting buzz throughout the season or I might try episode 2 but not sure this is for me. I've never been a Bateman homer. This feels like someone said "Lets do a show that has Nathan Fielder vibes but was director by Yorgos Lanthimos and appeals to the true crime podcast demographic."

I would say Robin Williams would be #1 all time

Loved ep1. Perfect dark comedy.

Once "it" happens, i think it became a little obvious. Looking forward to see how the plot evolves.

I agree that Bateman is great. I would also submit Michael Keaton:

And in a collision of worlds: Batman/Bateman:

I'm enjoying it, but one thing that's bugging me is the apparent lawyer wasteland that is St. Louis. You're hauled in for questioning about the death of a friend, and the husband of your side piece and your first words aren't "lawyer"... in fact, those words are never spoken all the way through arrest and charges filed, DTF? more like WTF?

Yeah, this bugs me for sure. But, people fail to ask for lawyers all the time in the real world because they're sure that, a) they can lie their way through the interrogation, and b) they really are innocent. Either way, always lawyer up.

Seven episodes?

This isn't a bad watch but it seems like they've got to stretch a lot to fill that much time.

I think the murderer is Jason Bateman's wife.

I've only seen the first episode but I'm going with umpire wife. She wants out and using these two to take them out and get her free to ump the world. I also think her self help podcast could help her motivate and control others.

The funniest part of this show is the St. Louis detective played by Richard Jenkins. He is giving a master class in facial expressions and ways to tip toe around subjects he finds embarrassing.

I have never been a huge fan of his work, but he is terrific in this role.

somehow I got onto the algorithm on Youtube for true crime documentaries

it is literally UNBELIEVABLE how hundreds of murderers never ask for an attorney and keep talking to police

I think because the narcissists believe they are smarter than the police, and that they can lie and take the spotlight off of them if they "cooperate"

Side note; love David Harbour in the first two episodes. Favorite character thus far.

She has access to the nerd bike, Bateman's online DTF profile (more than likely) and his recent prescription meds (the murder weapon).

Or the Hottie Ump planned it all along because the husband has some fatal disease or other stuff never mentioned that will be some weak sauce surprise reveal.

BUT...BUT...the gay lover sidepiece is still, literal and figurately, a player in a potential Indian Jones bizarre love triangle.

In the first episode, I thought it was odd that they mentioned more than once that Bateman bought two of the bikes. Perhaps the other one was for his wife and she was on the camera at 4AM that morning.

I think I am going to watch episode 2 for a second time in 4 days

it is that good!

and the older wife of his buddy is a SMOKESHOW

for the Hollywood experts- is that their real bodies or all the actors use body doubles?

Richard Jenkins is absolutely hilarious in this. He was great in Stepbrothers and Burn After Reading, too.

If you're still thinking about jumping in- this show is a pure comedy, shot as a broody David Fincher-esque thriller. We're not gonna get any lawyer or 'I plead the 5th' type of drama in this one. The dichotomy of the shots / dialogue crack me up and the ultra-cement modern lobby as a quasi-interrogation room with those people walking through.

  • That's Mountain Breeze
  • Ass Play = AP / Who touched who's ass?
  • Indiana Jones Jerk Off Classics
I think I saw this was a limited series - so I don't see this going past 4-5 episodes, yeah? I'll google that later.

Can you imagine Linda Cardellini telling you to "Snag it"? I'd fold so quicky.

Holy crap - watched 2 episodes before I decided to google the cast. I didn't recognize her but that's Linda Cardellini from Freaks and Geeks!!! Holy hell!!!! I thought she looked familiar but could not place her I skipped the credits.

It's pretty good. I'm not as raving about it as some on here. It's kinds funny. Kinda interesting. Certainly some funny bits with wording, terminology, even their online profiles like noted above.

Bateman is a little too calm and deadpan Bateman for the situation imo. He should be panicked. So calm about it. Anyway.

Harbour is great - the sign language, dancing classes, just awkwardness personally and the concert scene was brilliant not to mention the playgirl layout.

Oh he's great. So good in Burn After Reading. He kills me in that movie.

I doubt that they hired Peter Sarsgaard for the minor appearance we have seen thus far.
