My 17 year old went with his friends this afternoon. As I noted earlier, my 20 year old has already been twice.

I'm telling you. This found lightening in a bottle with that age bracket. It's become like a cultural event, ala the first Scream or Blair Witch.

Agreed. My 15 year old son came home the other night and told me about it. Him and a bunch of buddies went. We have a theatre within walking distance of our house.
Theatre wouldn't let them buy tickets because it's rated R.

The theatre called one of the kids mom who gave permission. I'm assuming that was also some kid working at the theatre who made the call. They said they were all brothers, so just the one mom.

None of those boys look anywhere near like brothers. At least 3 of races. All 15-16. Reminded me of earlier times when it was much easier to sneak into movies because seats were not assigned.

Anyway…. He raved about it.

Watched this with my wife last night. From what I gather this is essentially what female dating behavior (minus, you know, the murdering) is like these days, which is a huge reason it is resonating with younger men. Read a pretty good poast on twitter about it I need to dig up which does a lot to help explain why it resonates.

Ok enough trolling. I think this tweet states pretty well what is really happening in this movie. It's rather long but worth a read. Tldr it's essentially "2 movies in one" for lack of a better term.

I mean it's clearly the movie he describes in the first part and I am fairly certain the reason it is so appealing to younger men is the second part. Hell, even my wife made a quip that she was just acting like a normal girl.

I wanted to see this movie, but after watching the trailer I felt horrible for the young woman and it turned me off somewhat. Is this movie a long torture session of this girl or did I take it the wrong way?
