Ok, pardon the blatant ignorance here, I'm just a lowly southsider (by God, one of these days Appelt will have another crew for Cut). But I'm supposing that this trap and skeet shoot would be to raise funds, yes?

You also have to worry somewhat about safety, risk management and all that. When you combine a large amount of people with firearms that, when fired in close quarters, can be devastating, safety kinda has to be prevalent. How would you go about enforcing the rules for those who either are slackers or have never shot at a tournament before?

Other than that it's a great idea and if I could ever figure out a way to get my shotgun available I'd do it.

P.S.: The Remington 870 Express is one heck of a shotgun. Get the Remchoke barrel, and leave the full choke tube in it. Talk about reaching out and touching something...

Enforcement of rules is easy. ZERO TOLERANCE.

If you violate the safety rules, if you even look like you might have been to close to liqour that day, your told to unload the firearm and will be wihtdrawn. If you violate on range rules during the competition, your told to leave without a refund. Thats the only way to be around firearms.

i agree completely with ag_of_08. Having seen the effects of mixing alcohol and guns firsthand (not pretty), I can atest to the danger. However, with responsible people running the event, safety should be able to be enforced at all times
