Back to campus, student cut, student built, student led, solid plans and procedure that resemble the Bonfire of old, completed with professional overview/oversight (A "higher than Red" professional construction foreman crew working directly with the Reds to dictate student workforce activity).

Bring it back.

I think "Doctor" Snoball is a poser. I need to see proof of your MD.

1. It's not on campus. Sorry. That's out of the control of the current establishment with the current legal environment.

2. Student Cut: done.
3. Student Built: done.
4. Student Lead: done.
5. Solid plans, etc. done. See last year's burn.
6. Oversight: done. A professional engineer stamped the design and confirms compliance every year.

Let me clarify, I fully understand the campus issue as well as the highly political, hushed mouth, minimalist environment on campus and throughout the Gates and current interim Davis administrations caused by the pending litigation... and it may take a while... and I am willing to wait (as we continue to build the damn thing off-campus), but campus is where it should be. Bring it back!

Texas A&M agreed that any future bonfires held on its property or that receive university support will be undertaken with its direct involvement and supervision. A&M also agreed that it will determine whether each such bonfire involves engineering and, if it does, it will ensure that the engineering plans, specifications and estimates have been prepared by a Texas licensed professional engineer and that the engineering construction is executed under the direct supervision of a Texas licensed professional engineer.

Since I am no longer professionally involved with Student Bonfire since 2005 (although glad it is around), I just want to state in a public forum that, based on the Board's decision, each Bonfire deemed to involve Engineering requires the direct supervision of construction by an Engineer licensed in the State of Texas. Also based on my discussions with the previous Reds from the last two years, the chosen Engineer shall provide a suitable design that he or she will certify. I just wanted to state this since I will not certify something that I am no longer directly involved with. Also, as I had mentioned previously, they should review the board rules regarding what constitutes engineering construction and consult with an Engineer or Attorney regarding whether the off-campus bonfire does infact qualify as an engineered structure based on its height, cost, etc.

Based on my discussions with the Reds from last year, they did have an Engineer, but I wanted to state my view so as not to have people confused as to whether I am currently involved.
