I helped plant one of them, and they are getting pretty large now. These trees are along the North West exit from the parking lot just north of the Bonfire Memorial.

If you use Google Earth, Jerry Self's tree is at 30*37'29.99N, 96*20'11.63W.

I don't think they were pine trees. From what I can remember they were Oak trees.

They are live oaks. I stop by them at least once a year, and it also says so in the article.
