Basically a statement that Americans who are both patriotic and liberty-loving can claim belonging equivalent to blood. It basically begs the question because it's saying Americans who are not descended from the founders are still Americans. Doesn't actually ask as to what an American is.

Yeah, you'll forgive me if I call Boy Scout. Literally no one quotes this when justifying their positions, and it's not taught in history in public schools as a foundational or fundamental idea. Sure, maybe it's your creed, but that doesn't make it shared or anything close to uniting us a credal nation.

The problem for the creedal people is that they can't say anyone isn't an American by rule, so when faced with a naturalized person who's an open communist that has no relationship with America or its ideals they have to face that their creedal claim is worthless.

The United States has never defined citizenship or belonging by blood or culture above all else. For good reason. Yes, Mamdani is absolutely an American. He doesn't have to pass your political litmus test to be one.
