I think it's important Pope Leo said it this time because last time he was interviewed he didn't talk about countries protecting their borders, but only about inhumane treatment of immigrants. Not everyone, or many at all really understand Church teaching so this is an important clarification

He clarified that it's okay to violently remove immigrants who HAVE NOT been living good lives here for 15-20 years.

For those others we use the courts.

Thank you Papa

Well, for the longest time, Church prelates have not included this in their admonitions on immigration. Finally, we are seeing them iterate this element of teaching on immigration. Furthermore, I'm looking forward to them reminding the immigrants of their duties towards their prospective new homeland.

Did you catch the first part, "no one has said" ?

This is classic cherry picking. Read everything he has said and you may come away with a different impression.

I'm not talking open borders. Yet what I am encouraged about is the gradual inclusion of all elements of Church teaching on immigration from Rome as well as bishops and priests state side. I'm confident we'll be hear the truth about the duties of immigrants towards their prospective new homeland that necessarily accompanies the general right to emigrate.

BTW... I like cherries. The best cherries are rainier cherries. If you disagree, you're an apostate heretic schismatic communist. ;-)
