I'm just trying to raise awareness for the CLEAR Alert. It will probably never be as well known as 911 but hopefully it can be as well known as AMBER.

In it's first couple hours this thread brought 2400 views. That's probably as many as all our social media pages have done. Search JusticeForCay. That's not bad for the Politics board. I tried cross posting on /Premium but it quickly got moved to Pub so there haven't been many views with that thread. .

If telling our story brings more eyeballs (and a pity party) so be it. I'm happy for the thread bumps.

TexAgs is not my media platform and I have no right to violate their rules. I'm greatful for the views I've gotten here as well as the tens of thousands from television and print media across the state.

I think we have a positive story to tell but it is birthed from an unimaginable tragedy. The truth is that the underlying subject (a young person being brutally raped and beaten to death) is uncomfortable to many people. I've seen people say that they avoid stories like these in posts here and in some of the PMs I've received. But all of that is secondary to raising awareness at this point.

Despite some of the Aggie connections we used this is a state of Texas story. The reason I've shared it here is that TexAgs is like family for me and I know the moderators and posters here will keep the discussion respectful. (There are some internet sites that are truly disgusting). TexAgs doesn't owe me anything more than that.

I can think of no greater tribute to her than what you and your wife have accomplished from her death. The loss of a child is bad enough for a parent, but to lose her in such a way must be unbelievably terrible. CLEAR Alert WILL save lives. Yes, the CLEAR Alerts will be treated just like AMBER Alerts and will be posted on dynamic message signs, sent to the national weather service (that's actually how they get to phones), lotto commission so they can be sent to convenience stores, media partners, banks, etc.

The first CLEAR Alert was issued last weekend and had a positive resolution. I don't have much more info than that because the details were limited for privacy concerns.

I had missed this thread before but found it when you linked it in the OB. I am so sorry for your loss and appreciative for the way you all have responded. As the dad of a 23 year old young lady and a 2 1/2 and 6 month old granddaughters, this hits close to home.

The case in this trial has just gone to the jury.

The jury hung 8-4 and the judge declared a mistrial. Looks like we'll get to spend another week in the courthouse next year.

It is sad that there is so much violent crime in San Antonio I have not paid a lot of attention to this story until recently. As a father of a daughter, it chills me to the bone and breaks my heart to read the news stories. You have handle yourself with unbelievable grace. I don't know enough about the violence levels in San Antonio to comment on an informed level. But we've become friends with some other prominent victim families and followed some of the high profile crimes prosecuted by the Bexar County DA's office and I can say the community is concerned by the recent rash of domestic violence killings.

Wow - I missed this the first few rounds. Thanks for posting this tragic story and your efforts with CLEAR alerts. I had some very negative comments about Amber Alerts a few weeks ago and reading this personal and almost tangible story does have me reconsidering my opinions.

Could some of you San Antonio folks post a couple pictures of the TxDOT dynamic message signs. The first ever vehicle-related CLEAR Alert broadcast is currently posted on those signs.

We are chiefly concerned for the safety of this morning's missing woman, but this is also a milestone moment for our legislative team, which worked so hard to develop this program.
