Oh okay. So they haven't actually gotten instructions. So they are in a weird position of sitting in the back Jury Room but they aren't allowed to deliberate on the sentence. I guess they're just going to talk about the weather.

If it were Judge Westfall's court they have snacks and sodas.

Just sayin'

The defense should have plead guilty and put the kid on the stand to show remorse and beg for mercy. They knew that, but apparently they also knew that he was not remorseful and probably would come off as the punk that he is.

All they had to do was get one black jury member and he walks. That's what they were counting on. It backfired.

Apparently the potential jurors who are black told the attorneys they can't be unbiased in this.

And they are all frisco ISD teachers. Comforting.

The ones that said they can't be unbiased were not the teachers.

How long does it typically take a jury to decide on sentencing for a murder trial? I'm assuming the jury wants to get this over with

What do we do now?

I dunno:

- not enter another teams tent with bad intentions
- not stab someone for remarks
- not bring a knife to a track meet
- not stab someone in the heart
- not make comments after the stabbing
- not act like a civilized human being

DA overheard saying "sudden passion is ok with us"

What does that mean and to whom

Can be a mitigating factor in assessing the sentence by the jury. DA has no issue with the jury considering it. Primarily because they were unanimous on the murder charge and did not even get to manslaughter, in which case "sudden passion" was not the focus of this jury.

So DA sees no harm in adding that is my guess.

Where are you? Why don't you come back and defend your radical statement? Are you not familiar with any of the evidence of this case? The numerous witnesses?

Death isn't on the line so my guess without having personally experienced it is they will talk about it and probably meet somewhere in the middle. Timing will depend a lot on the personalities in the room. I'm sure you will have some people who will want the max and others who will want to be more lenient.

I went back and listened again and heard the one guy say "he only stabbed him once", yes he stabbed him in the chest directly into the heart and killed him. He was asked to leave multiple times. Why do these court tv nutballs question that the jury came up with murder?! Sounds pretty dang murderous to me. Manslaughter seems more like an accident if anything but KA seemed to have intent to kill someone (he brought a knife with him after all).

Reminds me of an interaction with a couple of guys I worked with in college my first week there. One guy said he was selling his car and was telling me about it. He wasn't necessarily trying to get me interested, just casual conversation. Other guy walks up, realizes what we're talking about and hears the seller say something like, "it really is a pretty decent car..."

The second guy, "yeah, and its only been stolen twice!!" (He was actually right about that!!)

The testimony in the sentencing phase seems to be done but I don't think they finalized instructions yet. My guess is there is still going to be some closing argument too but I don't have X installed and the media coverage of this has been less than informative.

Not to be Debbie Downer, but imagine this trial taking place in CA, NY, or WA. Or possibly even Houston or Austin. Even if no racist black jurors, I would not like the chances in those places given the over-abundance of *****ded white liberals.

I've heard this take often, about racists black jurors.
I might be naive, but I don't think this is fair to countless black folks, who serve on our juries and follow the law.

Even in this trial, i remember reading that multiple black jurors were not selected, because they were honest about not being able to be unbiased when deciding on a verdict.

Anecdotally, i have two friends who served on murder trial juries, who said their faith in the justice system was restored after serving on the juries. in both cases, black defendants were convicted, and there were multiple black people on the juries.

The "community" should be using this as an example to their children, instead of seeing it as some kind of injustice.

The "no blacks in jury" is not valid for an appeal. I hope he gets 75 years with no possibility of parole.

Screw these people. Welcome to Texas. It's not what it used to be, but it's the last bastion in a lot of ways. The pressure from this ridiculous group of "protesters" and left wing pundits would absolutely have altered this case in so many other states. But not here. Let this be a lesson to the punk kids who want to act like hard asses. **** around in Texas, you're going to find out, just like Karmelo, crying in his cell right now!

All white jury finds him not guilty…shocking. So many white people have killed black folks with even less justification than Karmelo had and were let off the hook for it. More and more I'm beginning to hate our ****hole of a state, which is sad as I used to be proud of being a Texan.

If my family and friends weren't all here, I'd leave.

It wasn't an all white jury, it just had no blacks.

There were three blacks in the final jury pool and it has been reported that all were educators. The prosecution eliminated them not because they were blacks, but because educators tend to be sympathetic toward young people.

Disagree. It's very comforting that someone can admit to this and tell the truth. I was excused from a civil court trial once because an individual was suing a business owner and they specifically asked if I could abide by the 51% rule. I told them if a business faces financial ruin then I would need more than 51% as I'm also a business owner. I was let go.

With all due respect, where exactly are those black people today? Where are the black people saying he's an embarrassment to their race? Where are the black people saying this is Justice?

Because the only black people im hearing from are the ones singing from the same old playbook of crying victim, not caring about violence against innocent white people, and excusing crimes purely because of the color of someone's skin.

They have no one to blame but themselves for this image because it's the only one they put out to the world.

The problem they're faced with is having been infused, either directly or indirectly, with the sick, godless, Marxist ideology; that, because of "systemic oppression" they can act with impunity and society expectedly will give them a pass otherwise it is just further evidence of systemic racism, which is the root cause of all their maladaptive behavior.

Quote:

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts [e.g., revenge] shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

My mother asked me the difference between manslaughter and murder. I said manslaughter is someone who's driving and staring at their phone as they plow over a pedestrian. (To be fair, that might also fall under criminally negligent homicide). But murder involves a willful, deliberate act that could knowingly cause the death of another.

Baiting someone with a "Touch me and find out" challenge, then sticking a knife in their chest is about an easy of a murder call as there is.

And to the dip**** on Court TV who is complaining because Karmello "only stabbed him once", WTF do you expect of plunging a knife into the chest of another? If he really wants to split hairs, and even allowing for the possession of a knife at a track meet, as well as outright provoking the scenario, the ONLY way I would consider a manslaughter charge would have been if Karmello would have used a slicing motion and somehow caught an artery. And likely not even then. But a full-on stab wound???? Not a chance.
