Just add a sizable fee for H-1B. Equivalent to a median American annual salary. Let the economics sort it out.

This is the way. Only the real geniuses will be left over because they will be worth the price tag.

Best idea I've heard is to award the visas in decreasing order of salary. If an Indian really is the only guy who can do a job no American can do, he should be earning $millions. With a suitable cap on the number of visas, the salaries will be so high that American engineers will be cost-competitive.

If H1Bs are frozen, the housing industry in the Austin suburbs will instantly crash.

If H1Bs are frozen, the housing industry in the Austin every US suburb will instantly crash.

And then young American families will be able to afford housing!

Ah... Just in McKinney or Sugar Land, and the surrounding areas.

It's a more localized impact.

Plus, the H-1B folks aren't buying houses because they're sending all their money home. So they can live like a King when they go back to India.

I don't know about that. If you spend a little time on X, you'll see comments and videos from around the nation, all talking about the same issue.

He doesn't give a **** about Russia/Ukraine. He gives a **** about American jobs being replaced by Indians and the admin doing absolutely nothing about that. And the country that is taking the jobs is at the same time undermining American sanctions. Therefore F India

I care about the parts in bold.
The parts not in bold, I don't agree with. And it is not "F India", it is "F US CEOs and F US Politicians" who are the real people who sold us out. You can add "F Boomers" if you want to expand the F list.

Blaming someone for coming in to the house when you (all of us) were stupid enough to leave the door open at 2am is just foolishness.

Some more anecdata to back up my claim. Telugu is an Indian dialect.

Add an H-1B fee equal to the median American annual salary for that position!

H1B changes are underway. Leaks say no lottery anymore, there will be income threshold.
Good.

Also, tariff all jobs sent overseas.

Amazon and Microsoft can go ahead and make my day.
