Did anyone actually read that? It appears they're only exempt from a section pertaining to handguns in an unattended vehicle and only if their car is parked in a place specifically designated for them. It doesn't exempt them from the whole law.

Are private citizens exempt in their work parking lots?

The section only pertains to government property so it wouldn't apply.

So, no?

If a private citizen parks in a state government garage, are they exempt?

correct and only when they are parked in a parking structure designated for the members of the general assembly...in other words, they don't want them bringing their guns into the general assembly....I don't support the bill in any way, but too many people assume that tweets that resonate with their position are true. They often are there to only get your click. We are in an information warfare age. Smart people will read and think critically on their own.

Smart people will not vote Democrat.

In order to distract people from the main issue, an infringement on a constitutional right that shall not be infringed, the communists will have you focus on small print technicalities about some language in which they placed some exclusions for themselves.

sure, I agree with you on that. I also think it's probably a bad idea to leave my handgun out in my front seat while I run into Wal Mart. Probably a good idea to at least hide it, take it with me, or lock it up. If a lawmaker wants to leave their's unlocked, okay. Texas also has some silly laws about handguns in vehicles. Holstered vs. not, etc.

The real issue here is the assault rifle deal they are going after. The handgun bill is a different deal and I think some were made to believe the 'rules for thee, not for me' applies to that. Not sure that it does.

What are those? Texas allows anyone to carry in their vehicle provided they're not committing a crime.

Changes made to the law in 2021 allow more people to carry a handgun in "plain view" within the vehicle. The law does require the handgun to be in a holster when it is in "plain view." Texas law does not say what type of holster is required.

It says the assembly people are exempt in parking areas "reserved for members of the general assembly". So I don't think private citizens would be in an area reserved for assembly members.

This would seem to support Federal oversight now of state election process and registration. Reductio ad absurdum there is nothing to prevent a state from opening their election to a billion imaginary voters. Through a collective, one such state (cough California cough) could determine the national election.

That's the point, one compromised and corrupted district could decide the national election. If it ever comes to pass that will exactly be the plan, democrats would never lose a popular election again.

You and I both know that due to illegal immigrants and the class warfare campaign Dems are on and have been on, conservatives will likely be significantly outnumbered in the near future. The SAVE act is critical, and even that isn't a perfect solution. Social-economic issues are going to have a real impact on who is in power.

I don't see how conservative voters have much of a real long-lasting chance.

Exactly! The assembly is exempt if they keep a gun in their car but private citizens aren't? How can anyone think that's okay? Not sure exactly what point nomad was trying to make.

I'm guessing VA thinks this can't happen again with a Republican are betting on that being a fluke.
