I think officers should display an identity number. No on last names or removing face coverings. I would think you couldn't dox someone based upon an identity or badge number.

Some of the sensitive sites make sense like hospitals and schools

My thoughts:

1) Require ICE to get a warrant to enter private property. Um, no.
1a) Require verification that a person is not a US citizen before holding them in immigration detention. Nope. Should be easy to prove you are a citizen if you are one.

2) No masks. Nope. ICE agents need protection from COVID too. COVID is the only reason they are wearing masks.

3) Require ID. This is fine. I actually agree with this. You don't need to stop what you are doing in order to show an ID, but you do need to show an ID if you claim to be ICE. But, ICE is already doing this anyways.

4) Prevent enforcement in sensitive locations - no ice enforcement in hospitals, courts or churches. Nope. Nothing wrong with ICE waiting outside a court room to nab illegals. I notice that Schumer is just fine with Don Lemon raiding a church, but not ICE. Interesting.

5) Stop racial profiling. This is stupid. I think that ICE should be able to use common sense.

6) Uphold Use of Force Standards. Agreed, because this is already in place.

7) Ensure State and Local Coordination and Oversight. Coordination, yes, oversight, no. This is federal law. You have made it very clear that local governments can't enforce federal law.

8) Build safeguards around detention. I agree. Illegal Aliens shouldn't be treated any worse than the Jan 6th protestors. If solitary confinement in sub-standard facilities with no charges filed, no bond provided, and no contact with the outside world is good enough for political prisoners of the Dem party that are citizens, it's good enough for illegal aliens.

9) Body camaras - you have to use body cameras to monitor ICE, but can't use body cameras as evidence to prosecute crime. Um, no.

10) No paramilitary police - bring them in line with civil enforcement. I'm OK with this. Most civil enforcement organizations have swat teams. Uniforms should be at least as normal as, for example, the Harris County Swat team.

Here is my counter-proposal:

1) Immediately deputize all state and all major city law enforcement departments so that they can enforce federal immigration law. Allow state and local government to detain illegal aliens the same way that federal LEOs can until their immigration court date.

2) Make it illegal for protestors that are breaking the law while protesting to wear masks. Wearing a mask during a protest while you break a law as minor as jaywalking is now an additional crime.

4) Protect sensitive areas. Make it illegal to fund any protestor or protest where significant illegal activities occur. If you pay a protestor to protest, and they trespass in a hospital, private business, or church, you are criminally liable. In exchange ICE agrees not to arrest illegals in courthouses, hospitals, churches, schools, etc, but they are free to wait outside. Add language to RICO laws around paid-for protests.

Seems fair.

I seem to remember reading in my political history books that the U.S. Customs Service was a stand alone office and the nations oldest federal law enforcement office established in the 1780s when the new nation had 3.9 million population.

After significant changes over its 237 year history it finds itself underneath the DHS. We didn't move it there but that's where it is now and we are talking about the activities of our nations first law enforcement agency, not its new department home.

If you want to talk about the merits of the DHS as a department, I suggest going to start a new thread. You will still find plenty of us willing to complain about the parts of the department that didn't exist in 1789.

Sure, you get all of those but you must agree to all of these. Prove their hypocrisy that it was never about the safety of American citizens that they want these new rules in place, it was always about keeping illegals in the country.

Amendment 1: DACA expunged along with all other protections for illegal aliens granting work authorization and legal stay in America
Amendment 2: All aliens illegally in the United States must self deport within 30 days
Amendment 3: Any alien that does not self depot is guilty of a federal trespassing crime and will be deported immediately with no habeas or other legal paths available
Amendment 4: Any illegal alien caught entering or re-entering the United States of America will be subject to a mandatory minimum sentence in Federal prison of 20 years with an additional 10 for every re-entry the alien is known to have committed. This includes visa and other temporary visa/authorization overstays after first deportation.
Amendment 5: SAVE act added in full
Amendment 6: Anchor babies are not granted citizenship and all prior are granted tempory residency but must complete green card or citizenship within 5 years of passage and must self deport if not completed.
Amendment 7: Anchor babies from Amendment 6 no longer granted the right to give expedited or temporary legal status for family members, all previously granted are hear by revoked and must self deport per Amendment 2.
Amendment 8: States and cities must accept and honor ICE detainers.
Amendment 9: Any officials at state or city level that do not honor the detainers are guilty of aiding and abetting an illegal alien and is subject to a minimum of 5 years in Federal prison and can never again hold a federal or state elected or public office position.
Amendment 10: Sanctuary Cities are illegal in any form or fashion. All lawmakers who approve of such a law will be guilty of a federal crime with a minimum sentence of 5 years and can never again hold a state or federal elected office.
Amendment 11: The Decennial Census must only count American Citizens for all appropriations it grants. Any alien not answering truthfully on a census questionnaire is guilty of a federal crime and subject to immediate deportation.
Amendment 12: English is now the only language recognized for all federal paperwork. No other language with will be provided. A translator may be hired at the requestors expense to attend any meeting or translate any documents. Mistranslation is not a valid defense against crimes committed by falsification of documents just as not knowing you are breaking the law is not a defense when breaking a law in any other fashion.
Amendment 13: e-verify will be enhanced and provided free to any business to use. All validation checks require a SSN or similar Alien identification number. If any id number is used more than 1 time to identify notably different individuals by provided characteristics such as first/last name, sex, ethnicity, eye color etc must be denied and immediately investigated so that the rightful owner can be identified. Any alien in possession of or providing fake/false credentials is subject to a federal crime with a minimum sentence of 10 years.
Amendment 14: All business must use e-verify for every employee. Any caught hiring without using or ignoring a response that credentials were invalid or likely false will be subject to an escalation fine of 10k for first offense followed by 100k per employee for every offense after. Any individual involved in the process of hiring tied to this alien that had proven/documented knowledge of the e-verify response is guilty of a federal crime with a minimum fine of 10k and minimum prison sentence of 6 months in Federal prison.

I see no problem with body cams. Most police officers around the country already gave them. Like you said this is a nothing burger. Though, my buddy in BO said many on BP are hoping the body cams that were wearing don't show that they shouldn't have shot Pretti. They're not so much worried about the agents as how it'll look on the rest of the agents and agency if they were in the wrong.

Also, standardized uniforms don't seem like a big deal either.

I get the, "never an inch" mentality of those in here, but this is an election year where the dems might take back both the house and senate, so who knows how those on the right will vote if they think they might lose of they don't vote for some of these things.

4, 5, and 10 are dumb. The rest are reasonable.

The sensitive places/home base bull**** needs to stop. We don't need to give people a place they can go to be able to break the law. That's like the driver who pulls into her drieway and then tells the cop "nu uh I was in my driveway you can't give me a ticket!"

But, the dems arent asking simply that body cam be worn, they are essentially asking that they only be used to hold officers accountable and not for evidence gathering otherwise.
